Because your fuse cover is so thin it might not maintain a good seal. These kinds of covers tend to have pressed grooves in them to add stiffness and retain sealant. The original has a raised center which adds a lot of rigidity. You might have been better off with something much thicker. (just my two cents worth)

I'm curious as to WHY it might not maintain a good seal. Although the material is thin, it is rather stiff. Of course, the amount and how the sealant is applied is important.
@vladbagdasarov16726 ай бұрын
If that pack is sealed airtight then temperature fluctuation will have an increase and decrease of air pressure inside. If the cover isn't ridgid enough, it'll flex and after time it'll breaking the seal.

a bit thin though

So how did you get all the water out including all around the cells under the nickel strips?? Cuz if you haven't got it completely out it's already eating away😮

Tesla will gladly supply you with a replacement battery if you're ready to put the money on the table.

There ARE a fair number of USED battery packs available.
@mikethespike75796 ай бұрын
@@BenjaminNelsonX Yeah, used. The clue is in the word "used". Why do you think these batteries are called that? It's not the same as a used engine that might have cone from a damaged car and is still well within its life expectancy. A used battery is either worn out or it's come from a damaged car and is not something you want to risk putting in your car.

Probably wouldnt be easy to add some corrugations to your cover plate to keep it from flexing, but i wonder if you have room to strap across some supports from bolt hole to bolt hole and maybe tack weld them to your cover. Adding those "ribs" might be a replacement for the corrugations, at least in one axis.

What forces are on the fuse cover? Yes, it's a relatively thin material, but it's also pretty stiff. I couldn't think of any reason it wouldn't work fine.
@FrankGraffagnino6 ай бұрын
@@BenjaminNelsonX you might be right, although I wouldn't make it any less stiff than the original.
@FrankGraffagnino6 ай бұрын
Forces I can think of are pressure differences, thermal expansion forces, strain due to motion of the pack/vehicle, shock forces, and vibration.

Is that the original fuse ( pyro?) or the later replacement ?
@BenjaminNelsonX6 ай бұрын
@@pollywollydo It’s the original “sand” fuse.

@@BenjaminNelsonX Oh, just had to have mine changed ( 2017/-75) under warranty, This is located under the battery - quick job. I was told that this was a self powered pyro fuse which has been replaced by a battery( mainbat’?) powered pyro fuse. I asked for the old one but was told” it has to be disposed of by them( properly🤫🙂) I can only assume the self powered one has its own lithium battery which has time expired. Keep up the good work 🌝

Nice videos, but they are too short.
@BenjaminNelsonX6 ай бұрын
Glad you like the videos. In general, I try to keep them on the shorter side. It seems like longer videos tend to have people NOT click on them. I usually create playlists so that people can watch a whole series of videos on a single subject. For example, to watch all the videos about fixing up this car, just click: kzbin.info/aero/PLmHss3DBZUinXAtGsho-xSke6Wy0M0sWe I will have a LONG FORMAT video at the end of the project talking about everything we learned while fixing up this car.

Yes! Sorry I don't know the make, but Munro Associates showed one off in their videos a year or two ago. It is designed to work with a car that's on a lift, so might not be what you're looking for.
