Special remanufacturing process of Large Drive Unit found in all RWD and Performance PxxD Vehicles (rear) which became less reliable after Tesla REMAN (RMN) process. On this one we didn't just reman, we did improve, optimise and tune it for more range and more power.

I have read that R2 at the end of the serial number means has been remanufactured twice already

A few things we found out about these motors: 6Mohm is not good enough. A good motor has 550+ Mohm. Drying is not done by cooking but you also need a vacuum for evaporation. A 3 lip seal does create a lot more friction heat than a 1 lip seal so the 1 lip seal can sometimes be a better choise

Do you offer different size motor/ HV battery swap? like pre-raven to Raven or small drive unit to large drive unit?75D to 90D/100D

Teslas early LDUs have design defects and they have improved the design since. This is why some early Teslas came with a lifetime Drove Unit warranty. They were learning.

Work in an industry that lives by a triple lip…every time we’ve tried single or double we have issues. Convinced anything but triple is a waste of time

I saw it on internet, but didnt see in real. Interesting, they must have read our letter but i am wondering what they did to limit rotor overheat. Probably 2-3 extreme starts will limit torque and power to motor. We have better solution which works and prevents any future leaks. And working on revision 2 for even better seal

My 2014 is going into the service center to have a remanufactured LDU Monday morning and it just so happens to be a "U" revision by the part # quoted. I'll test the theory that 2-3 hard pulls will limit power due to heat.

Teslas reman sucks, Mine was replaced 1,8 years ago and after slow and careful 30.000 km Teslas T revision reman failed.

сальник и всё что с ним связано не нужно всё отлично работает без охлаждения ротора, тесла придумала величайший геморрой и дала возможность заработать много денег слесарям :)

Not completely true. Motors without rotor cooling they overheat and damage rotor ballbearing. Same what happens with BMW i3 motor, Renault Zoe r240 motor, Hyundai Kona rotor, and so on. All non-cooled-rotors fail below 100k km

@@evclinic This is not a specific unit problem, this is a BMW, Renault, Hyundai problem. Tesla M3, Y, S restyling, no longer have rotor cooling and run without gaps for a very long time, the Volt, Bolt, Nissan Leaf and many others are rougher, and besides, Tesla itself eventually came to the decision to abandon LDU rotor cooling. Change the bearings to steel ones and change the lubricant in them to a more advanced one and everything will work much longer, and besides, the malfunction of the rotor bearings can always be heard and replacing them is a simple and not expensive job, 100,000 km is a very good resource even in the worst conditions In any case :), this is much simpler than the problem with the oil seal and the consequences of its leakage.
