Here we go again... Want to get a better ride quality on a bumpy road? Check your tire pressure. Because you didn't mention the pressure but mentioned the stiffness, I will assume the tires are very pressurised to get a better range but killing the ride quality.

Believe me! I had several thoughts of getting a HUD before getting my model 3, but it absolutely unnecessary if it is just for speedometer. Within couple of days you will get used to it, and I didn't feel unsafe at all. You just have to move your eyes to your left instead of doing it down like in a traditional car, you don't even need to turn your head.

True. I've driven for a Model 3 for about 15 minutes, and it didn't take me long to get used to looking at the screen for speed. I prefer it actually.

Have had my TM3 12 days. Agree with almost all comments. Roads in NZ are far worse than Aust however the ride and comfort are brilliant. What was not mentioned is that the seating is also very very comfortable. So no issue at all. The offset screen is a non issue as well- Think Mini or VW Beatle, was never an issue and is not now! I also have an MX5 and the TM3 in terms of driver satisfaction and fun is way better. Its a pity we have to drive on 19-20th century roads in a 21st century car, but hell! It handles these just as well. No one seems to mentions in car music much but this car provides whole game changer. No loud volume needed. Every part of every piece of any type of music can be fully appreciated. Tally Ho and into the future!!

Yeah autopilot has not been rebranded as full self driving. 30 seconds on Tesla’s website will tell you that all Tesla’s come with autopilot and full self driving is an $8,500 option. Also the leather is fake. Getting basic information wrong makes me question his overall opinion. Shame as there are not many Aussie reviews out there yet and I am really interested in this car.

Facts are EVERY Tesla made since April 2019 has both AP3 & FDS hardware installed, its just not turned on Unless the Buyer chooses to PAY to have AP3 and or FDS unlocked. AP3 is just the Driver Assist systems, the more Advanced FSD suite, adds features that used to belong to EAP. by end of 2019 Tesla FSD should be Feature Complete. be, mindful. FSD is not 100% foolproof no system is, so you have to be aware of your Driving conditions and Traffic around you.
@HammerRocks
@HammerRocks 4 жыл бұрын
The Autopilot system was renamed thanks to drivers who've had accidents while inappropriately using the system, and the US legal system (where most of these accidents have occurred) who've allowed owners to sue Tesla for it. Tesla renamed the system to remove the word "Auto" to avoid owner confusion on what the system actually is, and at the same time giving Tesla better litigation arguments when dealing with future lawsuits, compared to what it has now. So I guess "Common Sense" isn't all that common after all.
@CharlesGregory
@CharlesGregory 4 жыл бұрын
@@HammerRocks No, it hasn't been renamed. Rob Dickinson is correct. AutoPilot is still called AutoPilot and includes the lane keeping assist, traffic aware cruise control etc. that Matt talks about in the review. It's included as standard in the Model 3. Full Self Driving is a separate product which isn't fully available yet. You can either pay now and get some basic features, or wait until Tesla release it at which point you can pay the extra cost and get it enabled (no service centre visit required, it happens over the air)

He said he doesn’t charge at home so pops into supercharger every Sunday morning and that does him for the week (while he goes and has Sunday morning coffee). How’s that for convenient. Other interesting thing re Richmond not being sales / test drives, that’s where they’re doing deliveries now and the lady I spoke to said they’re ramped up to do 8 deliveries PER HOUR at Richmond. Tesla needs to sell a standard battery Model 3 with AWD (two motors) to give four-wheel magnetic braking. With one-pedal driving, magnetic/regenerative braking is used 90% of the time, but only works on the driven wheels. So with a RWD car, 90% of braking will be using the rear wheels only - less than optimal. AWD gives more effective, balanced 4-wheel magnetic braking, more even tire wear and better handling.

The lack of a HUD is entirely intentional. It is irrelevant, the general public just doesn't quite realize it yet. The cars will be driving themselves in short order and you'll be busy watching KZbin or Netflix while it drives you about, then what'll you do with a HUD? A HUD would be wasted time, money, and engineering.

HUD is a needless distraction. Guess you never check side mirrors when driving, eh? Dashpad ‘speedo’ requires less eye movement than checking side mirrors. Besides, do you really need to check speed while driving in traffic? No. Afraid to break speed limit? Set the limiter alarm, for this car reads speed limit signs. HUD might be useful in ice-age cars, not a Model 3.

Just a note: Carsguide is owned by companies such as BMW and Cox Automotive. Having said that, this review was generally good and well researched. Some opinions are subjective (ex. Hud, sporty suspension), but fair enough. It's hard to believe it's the same reviewer that did the performance model's review, overly negative even on the same features (Interface, Fabric, etc), maybe just had a bad day?
@AshleyWilsonAU

The reviewer seems to giving the first-time impressions of a lay person, but it is clear from the review that he hasn't driven it long enough to truly appreciate the car, and so has some slip-ups. I wished you also would have included both vehicle warranty and battery warranty. Let's be honest full autonomous driving vehicles will not happen until all vehicles have it and can "talk to each other" so they travel at the same speed and a safe distance from each other, then it will be legislated and become law. Meantime all drivers are responsible for what happens behind the steering wheel and should be incontrol of their vehicle at all times. By the time that happens future vehicles will be driverless. Meaning the driver becomes a passenger, you just tell the vehicle your destination and it will drive you there. I would not buy a Tesla until they develop a SUV version with a higher sitting position so the Kona ev or Niro ev look like a better fit for me personally.

What about the service for this car?
@Nicholas.T
@Nicholas.T 3 жыл бұрын
- Are you talking about routine servicing/maintenance as per regular petrol/gasoline cars, Tab Ten? Well pure electric cars, such as this, require VIRTUALLY NO maintenance - one of their huge advantages over fossil fuel cars !!! The only recommended servicing, every 2 years, is just brake fluid and battery coolant inspection/replacement. The electric motor, DC-AC inverter and main propulsion battery require ABSOLUTELY NO maintenance. There is a separate 12 volt battery( a bit smaller than a traditional car battery) which is used purely to run the electronics, and this generally requires replacement after about 4 years. Due to the excellent regenerative braking, the brake pads themselves will generally last a very long time, easily 5-7 years !! In fact Tesla DO NOT require an owner to have regular services on their vehicle to get the benefit of the Tesla warranty!! And that I believe is unique in the motor vehicle industry.

Good review. But you left out something crucially important! INSURANCE! Haven’t seen a single review yet that’s mentioned it and is extremely important when considering it’s purchase, for me a deal breaker! Anywhere from $2,500 to a comical $9,000 a year, if you’re lucky enough to even find someone who’ll insure it at all! You can be forgiven for getting lost in the nuts n bolts of the car, but this is important ESPECIALLY if ‘reduced costs’ is one of the main reasons for buying this car. What you gain in fuel and servicing is GONE in this cost! There are VERY few specialist EV repairers around, parts are hard to get and take forever to arrive and the car may need to be toed a LONG way to a repairer for that reason: hence the exorbitant insurance. Sorry, deal breaker for me, Mercedes AMG it is for me.

Tesla has a great car, but there are thousands of customers who ordered in the UK at the beginning of May still have no idea when they will get their cars. Worrying is Tesla response - if you don’t like it, cancel your order. Customers have been given delivery dates that were obviously unachievable. Tesla knows it has a great product and unconcerned about the level of service. Tesla appears to have stopped responding to emails, text and phone calls and a Tesla customer service rep stated they are getting a lot of cancellations due to what he described as the customer experience.

I'm finding it very hard to plan when to place an order. Website says current orders estimate September delivery, and speaking to a few early UK customers that's completely unrealistic.
@victaflyer

SuperKimjong it is a great car, will be quicker to deliver than anything else. But very difficult to plan as Tesla just don’t know when they will be able to deliver. Tesla does not communicate with its customers, but best guess is the back orders from May will be done by mid to end of October. Probably early next year they will have completed delivery of all back orders. Then they may be able to tell you what they have in stock and give a delivery date they intend to keep.

With not even a space-saver spare wheel what in hell are you supposed to do if you get a flat tyre on a long road trip in Australia? You can’t even use a tyre-inflation kit because the tyres are lined internally with sound deadening material and the “goo” in the kit can’t get to a puncture to seal it.
@garryhopkins
@garryhopkins 4 жыл бұрын
Seawolf The BMW and Giulia come with run-flat tyres so you are covered and you can get a space saver for the C-class. I would be content with either of those options. Even a tyre inflation kit would be okay, but as I mentioned above, the optional Tesla inflation kit does not work in the M3 because the sealant can’t reach the internal wall of the tyre because the tyres are fitted with internal sound deadening material. So, I have been told there is no use buying the Tesla inflation kit because it will not work on an Australian spec M3.
@ccgtn00
@ccgtn00 4 жыл бұрын
@@garryhopkins All Tesla cars have the lining in the tyres. The tyre inflation kit is designed to work with it. You can also call the service centre and they will come with a spare wheel until yours is fixed.

@garryhopkins 4 жыл бұрын
G T Thanks, I will talk in person to staff at the service centre in Sydney about the inflation kit. I should be able to visit them in a couple of months. I have tried by email to talk to Tesla about the kit but they have been mute on the subject and other people have told me they won’t respond because it doesn’t work! If they confirm that it will work I will definitely get one. I don’t know where you are from (the US?) but one problem in Australia is there are only 6 Service Centres in the whole country which is about the same size as the continental USA. I could find myself on a road trip with a flat tyre and be at least 2-3 days drive from the nearest Tesla Service Centre. Not a great outcome.

Hammer Rocks Totally agree! This car definitely should have a HUD especially considering the price. If Mazda can do it, it is remiss of Tesla not to have it as standard equipment. Tesla complicated everything by incorporating in Software, the greatest downside is, if for reason software or parts of software was bugged, then its a showstopper to the driver or passengers. And sitting 2 hours in queue and charge is no practical. Battery will spoil and leak in higher temparatures. Boot spaces soo less. To operate AC, mirrors etc all has to be done going through multiple touchpoints in the software which is no best user design, it should be as per normal conventional cars. Stupid design and stupid selling stupid concept especially lol wow auto pilot. It cant pilot more than 10-20 seconds and already so many accidents we see in news in the history. Bad things
