I had a 15 minute test drive of a Tesla and was changed forever. I'm now the proud owner of a Model 3 Long Range that I immediately drove from Melbourne to Brisbane and back - over 4000 Km - and loved every second of it! It is a thing of beauty and goes like a scalded cat. With 600Km range and chargers everywhere even in Australia range anxiety is no longer a problem.

I'm a proud Model 3 Performance owner from Germany myself. 450km are realistic if you drive slowly. (350km in a severe Winter) If you drive more sporty it will take you less far. But remember in Germany you can drive as fast as you want so if I want to drive 200km/h at the Autobahn I can do it. (And it's not very common that an electric car can do that) It's extremelly impressive nevertheless. I love the car and never want to go back to gasoline.

@@glenhardy4770 I'm in my 30s and very successful in my job right now so I wanted to reward myself. (with the best Model 3) That's why I have chosen the M3P. I was always interested in EVs, though and always wanted to own one myself. Back in 2014 I test drove many electric cars but 100-160km of range convinced me that it's too early for that. From 2014-2021 I drove a Toyota Prius to give you a picture. But last year I had the money and opportunity to finally order one so I did it. I actually would have ordered a Standard Model 3 or Long Range instead. I just had the money to get the Performance instead and wanted the extra special so I did it. But I can tell you that you will have fun with every version of the car. The Performance has much more punch if you floor it but I do it 4-5 times in a month to get the thrill and then drive normally again. The rest of the car is basically the same and the Long Range comes pretty close if you buy the acceleration boost later. (3.8s instead of 3.3s for 0-100km/h)

You do a great job of getting the information across in a non-defensive way and you're very well informed and can provide specific data sources, which most of them likely cannot. I think about my father-in-law and other politically conservative people I know and I just can't see them buying the true information without pushing back. Yeah it's simple physics the car accelerate fastest when tyre is in traction the whole time. Last time I checked all 4 wheel are independently traction controlled 100 time a second so once it lose traction on a particular tyre it will dial-back the power on that wheel after 0.01 second till it finds traction again. And that's one of the reason how it accelerates so fast.

True, the AWD makes it more difficult to do burnouts, but the main reason is the fact that the car applies a much power to each wheel as it can WITHOUT the wheel losing traction and beginning to slip on the pavement. This way, all of the power is used to propel the car forward rather than wasting some of it on rubber burning. This is a big reason why they accelerate so rapidly.

From 2015 through 2022 I owned five Hellcats (modded one, sell one, buy new one etc), a Viper T/A, a Trackhawk, a 2019 Corvette C7 Grand Sport as well as an Alfa Romero Quadrifoglio for good measure… oh yeah, and a TRX lol . I love cars, what can I say? (no kids) That all changed when I borrowed a base model Tesla Model 3 for the day from a friend. Not as fast what I was used to but that instant torque was ADDICTIVE. After a day tooling around in the Model 3, first time I’d been in one… I went home, downloaded the Tesla App and ordered a Model 3 Performance. I was a life long muscle car nerd but when you can do 0-60 in 3-3.1 seconds over and over and over…. and my ‘gas’ (charging bill) at home was $20-$30 per month… I was Mopar or No Car no more. I’m not a fan of Elon, but he does make a darn great car. Looking now on how Stellantis has destroyed the charger / challenger heritage with that new e-version… lol. Looks like I got out at a good time. 😂

Nice, I've done that also. My power went out one night last winter but my 3LR kept the heat going like a champ and I watched a few old Clint Eastwood films. I hope Tesla adds the ability to power your house from the car in that kind of situation, like the Ford Lighting and the Korean models. Either way, I'll never go back to an ICE car.

I just bought a Tesla Model Y Performance and I'd describe the feel of regenerative braking like driving a manual transmission car where the clutch never disengages. If you don't push in the clutch you feel engine braking similar to a Tesla, except I'd say the Tesla motor is tighter so the feeling is more dramatic. LOVE my MRP. My two previous performance cars were BMW M3s and I'm blown away by my Tesla. 👍

Unfortunately, everything has become politicized which predisposes some to be skeptical without any information. I drive a long range and use it to drive Uber. I’ve converted a lot of skeptics. Recently we had several weeks of 90 degree temperatures. Because I ran the a/c all day my range was reduced by approximately 20% which is comparable to a gasoline powered car but at a much lower cost overall. I owned a 1967 Vette with 427/435hp engine for almost 30 years. The only speed range where it rivaled my model 3 was 50-120.mph. Handling goes to the model 3 and the ride is easier on your internal organs. I prefer a sports car that rides like a luxury car. My Vette had manual steering with a steering wheel the size of one found on a school bus. That’s probably better but parallel parking it wore me out physically. The Vette was prettier but I’m biased towards the look of 60’s cars.I forgot to mention that it averaged 8-10 mpg $$$$

I used to travel to the US a lot and I would rent Corvettes and other cars which are unobtanium here because of the 180% car tax. We had just 25% tax on EVs and when I tested the model 3 for an hour and drove back to Tesla, I got the same feeling as when I had to drive back to the rental with the corvette before flying home that I didn’t want it to end. So even though the model 3 was a tad expensive for me, it was possible so I went for it. Only down side is less money to travel to the US but I have a car I like to drive and the 40 minutes to work are never a chore. Then I moved into a house in a rich area. next door neighboor had a model 3 BTW, Elon Musk did NOT develop the original Telsa roadster or the company name. It was created by two car engineers that had a kit car with the electronics of the motor and LIPO batteries in it. They needed the money to make this car go national so they approached Elon Musk for Financing.

I like Iron Will! Super nice guy driving g electric for the first time. - A couple observations to share with Will: The 2022 Performance model of the Model 3 does 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and has Track Mode. You can spin the tires in Track Mode, plus dial in front/rear power bias depending on what wheels you want to hook up and how much. Great for dialing it in for track or just fun. There was a maintenance Mode hack that allowed for burnouts in all Teslas but too many folks couldn't handle the torque and ended up in the ditch - see KZbin. My 2018 Long Range, non-performance AWD Model 3 does the job in 4.3 seconds but all LR models can drop .5 seconds off that 0-60 time by purchasing a Boost package, downloaded over-the-air from Tesla for $2,000. Another plus with Teslas = OTA updates. My car gets regular updates whi,e sitting at home. It gets better in many ways and/or gains features. Big bonus! For the third year running, American-made Teslas won hands down for the domestic cars with the most USA-sourced parts inside. That includes gas cars. Its also worth noting that most model 3s ( except the Base model ) can win a drag race with most Corvettes and 911 Porsches whilst being a comfortable 5-seat family, car with a nice front trunk, a spacious cargo area beneath the rear trunk floor and room for me to lie down in back and take a nap at 6'1" without my feet hitting the trunk. I recently hauled a big flat screen TV home from Best buy, no problem. Try doing that in a 'Vette! - These are good points to justify with the "better half" when discussing the purchase. Some very good sources (NTSB, IIHS and Recalls.gov) say .03% of electric cars have caught fire vs. 1.05% of gasoline cars since 2010. Those numbers include the big Chevy Bolt recall for defective LG batteries.. Just think of the industries disrupted by EVs: The Parts and Service industry alone is a multi- trillion dollar segment. Gas cars have hundreds of oil - lubricated , friction worn moving parts in engines and transmissions. Each Tesla motor has ONE moving part. Their reduction gearset is just a few parts and forget about brake jobs! Gas and oil lobbies pay lots for advertising....Tesla has a LOT of enemies.

My pockets aren't that deep! Not to mention that guy will still be sitting on the line while I'm waving good bye in the rear view. The other comment I hear from those I've introduced to my 3, "but I really miss the sound of the exhaust!". Well guess what, other people don't want to hear or smell it while you're redlining and smoking the tires. On my road in the country, it seems that every third vehicle that passes has a modified exhaust. It really is relentless. If I want to see and hear it, I'll go to the track.
