This works however you don’t need the tin foil. You just need a wire that makes contact with the inside of the plug and the plate of the broken contact. I made a little stick with some copper wire and this trick even works with super chargers, however I’m sure this is dangerous so do it at your own risk!

Was the repair for the charge port pin covered under warranty? If not was it very expensive to fix?

It was not covered under warranty. I think it was like $400 but my car was on Turo and they covered the entire bill..so I was lucky!
