Tesla Model 3 - Window Stress Crack - Will Tesla honor their warranty? How long for them to fix it?

My Tesla Model 3 SR+ back window broke out of nowhere and now I find out how much it will cost me for Tesla to fix it.
Will Tesla honor their warranty? Or will I have to pay $1,300

Glad they got you in a Model S as a loner car but bummer that it was locked. State side its hard to get a loner when your Tesla is in the shop. Also glad to see that your glass was covered by warranty and I am gonna keep an eye on my glass for stress cracks.

The noise might have been because of the tape. The wind might have been traveling under the tape, in the channel, and creating some wind noise or some sort.

Might have been the windscreen still settling. We had a chipped screen replaced by a third party, and took it into Tesla for camera calibration. First time we’ve been, and they were also friendly and super efficient. Got the tyres swapped round as we were there, and they checked out the suspension etc while it was on the ramps. That’s service I guess.

@@TeslaCanadianDad In my case i took my car in after delivery for a small scratch possibly from the delivery process (It came on the back of a lorry and dropped outside my house ). I also got a tesla model S as a loaner for the day, a 2015 one with well over 100,000 mile on the clock so it was good to see how the car aged - and very well too. Mine was also set to "restricted" mode too.

I meant my other comment in the nicest possible way. I am a bigger tall guy and I found the model S to be more cramped than the model three,It’s a bigger car but I thought there was less room inside what do you think?

John Reff if I’m 100% honest I didn’t love the Model S. it felt really dated and not for me. Your right that the seat area didn’t feel bigger. But I did feel like the car was way wider.

Tesla Canadian Dad TCD to be totally honest I tried to climb in a model S on the showroom floor when I was buying my model three and I did not even get all the way in because it was embarrassingly tight for me as I am 6 foot six and 300 pounds (almost),Somehow the model 3sr plus is still pretty comfortable . As a guy with a receding hairline I saw a different video without your hat and you had a beautiful, full head of hair!! Now I really feel awful. Haha.I also just bought a Kia Nero EV for myself to drive as my wife uses the model three. All of the federal benefits are gone on the Tesla so with the Kia we still get the full 💰 from the feds. I’m glad that happened because what an awesome little car it turned out to be.Sorry for babbling on have a good rest of your Sunday.thanks again for the great videos

Just bought my model 3 and got a Crack overnight! I've been trying to contact them. Haven't drive it for 3 days! Currently have a service appointment pending, could that be the reason?

Bet they dont honor the warranty. I had a stress fracture after six months and got stuck having to pay $983 to replace it.TESLA USED TO BE AN HONORABLE COMPANY BUT THOSE DAYS ARE GONE.

Follow up: Tesla fixed it for free. Considering it was less then 2 months from purchased. The guy there told me it happens but not often.

Sure seems like if you can’t feel anything on the window then nothing hit it. Well that was good news have a great Sunday.When I see videos with those white seats I definitely regret getting the black seats especially in a blue model three the white looks so nice

How can you drive comfortably with the backwards hat on? Is it that important to look super cool while you’re driving? Big thumbs up I love your channel but small shit bothers me and the headrest is already too far forward in the model three,

John Reff haha. My wife hates the backwards hat too. Honestly I let my hair grow out all the time since I went through chemo years ago and I don’t always have the energy to style it lol. As for the backwards. I personally like the look more but hey that’s just me 😂

Can you show what is the cracked look like ? My model Y cracked at the back but on roof top They told me $1700 to replace it not under warranty. I live in LA . CA . Usa

Could be the tape on the roof. Get mudflaps that are flat and not moulded around the wheel wells since those ones tend to cause wear on the paint and more easily accumulate road crud.

For the sound? the tape was on pretty tight but maybe. If I had to guess it was one of the girls car seat in the back. As for the mood flaps, thanks for your recommendation. I'll look for does.

Follow-up: I was washing our SR+ & took a look at the back window. Found a crack way smaller than yours & also a gap around one of the wires in the window heating element. Being totally inspired by your video I contacted Tesla Ottawa through the app with attached photos and, as of this afternoon, we have a brand-new glass roof under guarantee, no questions asked. They seem to have a bunch of fine folk working there who are doing their best to provide excellent customer service.

Love to hear other positive comments from others going to the services Center. Really happy they treated you great. I’ve always had great service with the Ottawa Tesla Service center. 😀 Sounds like yours cracked because of a defrost burn? I’ve seen a a few of does online.

Mine wqas a stress fracture but tesla claimed it was hit by a rock.. It has been in a driveway for two weeks. Think they are tired of satisfying the warranty and are focused on the bottom line,

@@vistagraphsnet Thanks for your info. Last summer I was driving in a heat wave up the big hill on the 50 back of Buckingham and heard a big cracking sound. I checked all the glass and found nothing. Last week I was in the back seat while my son was driving and I looked up and saw the crack in the roof glass. The glass is laminated so the crack isn't visible from the outside. I will take the car in to have it looked at. It will be difficult for Tesla to claim that the crack was due to a rock, since there is no indication of an impact on the outside of the vehicle. 😉

I recently had my back window replaced as well, though they applied the sealant too far forward and it ended up being visible where the third break light shows. Hopefully you double checked yours.

@@TeslaCanadianDad Yea I pointed it out to the service advisor right away and they'll wait for the glue to harden and re-do the work in two weeks. Also...just my luck, got a stone chip on my front windshield and that turned into another crack...

If it’s like mine, it’s called a stress crack. If there’s no impact mark (like something hit the window) they should cover it under warranty

Unbelievable, not even 7 days with the Tesla 3 and a side window was broke it in a parking lot of my complex apartments, day after I went to the Tesla dealer, they stated will order it overnight and got ready for me. They obligate people to use their Tesla application, they didn’t follow up, they didn’t ordered, MY SON GOT CUT OFF HIS ARM BECAUSE OF IT. I got car delivered on the 6th, get damage and I reporte it in the Tesla app on the 10th, I visited Tesla dealer on the 11th, they obligated me to visited Tesla dealer on the 15th for diagnoses at this time no part was ordered by Tesla dealer Abraham Cantu, they make an appointment for the 20th, and today 16th notified me have to wait until the 28th. Unbelievable and completely regret to buy this car. I have to rent a car. I do not want another family member gets hurts due the broken window.
