***** Not so sure lol, the best electric car ever made in mass production.
@ahastar11419 жыл бұрын
I think the buzz will go down over time. More mainstream manufactures will start making their own all electric cars ( many have) and begin taking away from tesla as they will likely be more affordable. The other issue facing tesla in the future is they are unique and rich people like the look because it draws stares and looks better at the country club than the standard s class or 6 series everyone has, however they are popular and as more and more people buy them, they will become common place. The other thing holding back these all electric cars is their range and their charge time. I think range anxiety is the biggest deterrent of people buying all electric cars. There would be nothing scarier than running low on juice and not being able to find a station. While yes they are adding more stations all over the world, it still sucks thinking you would have to take a huge break on a road trip to charge the batteries. This is really too bad since an electric car with all that power seems like it would be the perfect car to open up on a long road trip but that lack of range really holds it back from diesels and hybrids.
@aoobbb9 жыл бұрын
ahastar1141 Well, that's the main problem with electric cars. Although Tesla is superior compared to most or the all car manufacturers because their Model S is powerful and has a long range. Usually it's like 60 miles max on most electric cars now, but for Model S it's 250 miles. Also the base model has 360HP so it's pretty impressive. With Tesla supercharger it takes only an hour to charge the car from 0% to 100%. Which means if you charge for half an hour you get 125 miles.
@ahastar11419 жыл бұрын
Aaron Trace That still seems like a long time to have to sit at the gas station. I suggest tesla makes their own gas stations and calls them charging lounges with couches vending machines and tvs showing espn haha

Motoring hacks need sectioning in an asylum! Arguably the best car yet made, and proven to be the safest, with 5 Stars plus, [the roof structure is so strong it can support 5 Model S's parked on it's roof and which broke the original test rig! ], the only death driving one was a stolen car which crashed, literally flying, at over 100mph after cutting the car in half and landing wedged between the second floors of 2 buildings - and all we get is whines about fucking cup holders and stuff rattling about in the front bin when you corner at insane speeds!

I test drove one a few weeks ago. It's amazing to drive: fast to accelerate and great handling. The real seller for me was the autopilot! The car just drove itself happily down the A3 and I did nothing :). Obviously anyone doing 300+ miles every day would struggle, but I think it'd be fine given how many superchargers there are in the UK now. The only downside is the price, but then again, I'm currently self-employed so when I incorporate I'll be able to put it through the company's books!

I was thinking the other day. Although my Golf has a large touch screen, I am so glad it had proper knobs and buttons for the basic fuctions like the AC/heater, volume and heated seats. Having to faff about with a touch screen to change the air flow seems like a bit of a backwards step.

All that can be controlled with the steering wheel dual scroll wheels. You don't actually have to touch the screen while driving for volume, radio, making or receiving calls, opening the roof, changing the temperature, changing fan speed, checking tire pressure, etc. It is all done with the dual scroll wheel on the steering wheel.

Range is not realy a big issue. You drive 200 miles and make a 40 minute break. Rear visibility is also not an issue because you have HD rear view camera. Parking is also not an issue when you buy version with autopilot which can also park itself. And supercharging is free. That means you could drive from London to Moscow for free.

Saw this today in a shopping centre (Cribbs) so I had to have a nose around. It's amazing how cars look different in the flesh and it's certainly changed my mind. It's quite a large car and the quality is far better than I expected, everything seems really well screwed together with good materials. Space is ridiculous, there's so much room in it that nothing I've seen compares to it. Initially from looking at these clips I really didn't like that huge screen but when you sit in front of it, it's really not as bad as you think. Overall I'm very impressed and I would definitely consider it as we don't drive much more than 30 miles per day in the week and probably no more than 100 miles at the weekend, certainly no more than a full charge in one day.

@naeemrawat2359 жыл бұрын
+Zoro San I would buy a tesla over any other car right now, I have a high performance hatchback but the tesla seems better in every single aspect. Mainly because of the supercharge network and the intelligent features found standard in the car. The features itself are arguably on par with a mercedes S500. Sucks that the Tesla is not available in my country yet, however i would be the first to order once its available. This is Tesla's 2nd model, imagine how epic their cars will be in the next 10 years!

I have test driven this car - in the 691bhp P85D. 0-62 in 3.1 secs! 2.8 with ludicrous upgrade. It was very comfortable and exciting. I don't usually like American cars, but this one looks and feels quite German. The 17 inch touchscreen is great looking and easy to use. Love the massive storage area. The dashboard instrument cluster is very nice. You can surf the Internet on the big screen. Despite test driving in the UK it was left hand drive. Not as good as an S Class but it isn't aimed at it. Do you know where the charger is? The end of the left tail lamp! However I would go for the P85 (P85D too expensive. My dream car and favourite electric car. PS the sat-nav prepares where to charge based on your charge. It also plans a few short charges for a coffee, and a long one for lunch!

To place Mercedes behind Tesla is simple idiocy. Mercedes produces the most advanced cars in the $100k segment. The S550 and S600 are superior to the Tesla in nearly every way. However, The Mercedes Benz S500 Hybrid achieves 78 mpg, which is just as good, if not better than the value provided by the Tesla's electric alternative. The S Class has a smoother ride, a quieter interior, a better insulated interior, more power, an a much higher quality of interior (leather is not standard in the Tesla and neither is any type of wood). In terms of interior quality, the S-Class is unrivaled in the segment.

RE: the several comments about the big screen being a distraction - there's no reason to assume a large screen is more distracting than a small one. Assuming use for navigation, for instance, a large map will be easier to read at a glance than a small one. The same should apply to other functions. Personally, I don't want everything on a screen - analog switches and dials can be accessed easily by the driver's memory of their locations, etc. But as with all things, the novelty of the screen wears off quickly and it is merely another tool. And the vast majority of fiddling with settings etc is done before you put the car in gear.

Your math sucks... The fuel consumption of an old C63 AMG is enormous and think about all the problems you will have it during that 20 years... It is going to cost MUCH more.

@jg50019 жыл бұрын
+logical fruit It least it has a grille. Look at the GM EV1 and you'll see why Tesla put a freaking grille up front. Sure it looks bulbous, but it helps make the car look normal.
@RAMSEY19879 жыл бұрын
+Jordan Gee true but look at the bmw that managed to do it right. I just think it down to American design language and what works personally i think the nose looks awful it's the same inside the cabin looks ugly too they need a top European designer from Aston, Jag, or Merc to just add a bit sexiness to it, amazing technology though.
@jg50019 жыл бұрын
logical fruit You a European? Anyway, Tesla does have a designer from one of the old companies, Franz Von Holzhausen, probably from Germany. It's sexy because it's simplistic, no buttons or dials, pretty much everything is on that iPad.
@RAMSEY19879 жыл бұрын
Jordan Gee that centre console is awful, the front end looks terrible and von Holzhausen worked for VW and it shows.

Well, i don't really get what is so special about electric cars. They are expensive, heavy, you need to spend a lot of time for loading the batteries. The production of batteries and the utilization of them is a big problem for the environment and so is the production of electricity.
@RacingRalphEVO10 жыл бұрын
GeForce GT 1.Modern petrol/diesel engines with turbo's/compressors have enough torque through the almost whole RPM range. 2.Well many cars with petrol engines can do that. 3.What do you mean? 4.So what? You need to stop for much longer time to reload the batteries wich is very unpractical. And what do you think, where does electricity come from? You have to pay for electricity and it has to be produced using various raw materials wich is also not environment friendly.
@RacingRalphEVO10 жыл бұрын
GeForce GT Well i it lost against both the Aventador and the Ferrari so i still don't get what do you mean with "smokes the Ferrari 458 and Lamborghini". It has a better launch - thats true but it loses agains the ferrari at higher speeds wich is a shame because while speed increases the weight advantage of the ferrari becomes meaningless, only power counts - the ferrari has 121Hp less and overtakes the tesla. .
@RacingRalphEVO10 жыл бұрын
GeForce GT Idon't think you understand what i've said. While speed increeses it doesn't really matter that the tesla is heavier and even with more power it loses wich doesn't make sense at all.

Umm...putting your kids in those ridiculous back seats would be sentencing them to death in case of a serious rear end impact. Also, seeing how I always drive with a heavy right foot, I bet I would wreck the batteries, which are crap anyway being batteries, in a few years. I'd rather have a Mercedes S-Class diesel.
@1MTEK10 жыл бұрын
Love the S-Class, but there's a reason why sketchy used car lots are full of them at low, low prices. Like batteries, they don't age well either.

Umm... putting a massive engine is front of a driver and a passenger would be sentencing them to death in case of a serious front end impact.
@AlanFrance2110 жыл бұрын
In fact, that rear facing child seat option is safer than anywhere else in the car because there is a toughened steel cage incorporated and the belts are full harness. This is the safest car ever built - so strong it broke an official test machine, and as yet only one fatality in one - a car thief who drove at 100mph in a 30 limit and took off, crashing and jammed into a first-floor office in two halves. As to your comments about the batteries, if you drive like a madman, you should not have a driving licence - nobody can engineer a car for utter c*nts.
@weedmastersr10 жыл бұрын
belson alan LOL, right. Tell me that again when an Escalade crashes into your rear with your children in it. Of course only one person died in Tesla's since there are very few on the road. It's like saying only one person died in the latest model of Bentley Flying Spur. I don't drive like a mad man. I don't drive like an old fart either. I don't do 55 on the highway to have adequate range. What good is it to have a fast car you can't drive hard. The Tesla couldn't even complete a full lap of the Nurburgring at full speed, something even the Fiat 500 could.

@TheNondiscriminatory8 жыл бұрын
Emily Powell no. wheels like that (that are designed to be blades/food slicer looking) typically are designed that way to reduce drag, and better aerodynamics means more range.

And what happens if the car has some issue with the electric system (display or door handle goes wrong....). Then works NOTHING! That's a downside of an electric car.
@AmbientMorality10 жыл бұрын
Wait, what happens if any car has an issue with the electric system? The power steering doesn't work, nor does the computer, nor does a lot of things. Either way, if the electric system goes out it's bad. Electric cars are much more reliable though because they rely only on the electric system (which has few moving parts) and not on a gasoline/mechanical system (which has a lot of mechanical parts).
@jannissen921110 жыл бұрын
Yeah, thats the real downside. The more electronics there are, the less reliable it is.
@AmbientMorality10 жыл бұрын
Jan Nissen Uh, no. Electronics in the Tesla replace many mechanical components in regular cars (for example, the electric drive motors are much less complex than an internal combustion engine). Mechanical components wear down over use and must be replaced, especially high-stress parts like fan belts but also slowly the piston chambers, fuel injectors, and other moving components. Electric systems use little motion and therefore require much less maintenance and are more reliable. Electrical components take a long time to wear down because they don't involve mechanical stress.
@jannissen921110 жыл бұрын
Enzo Piacitelli Yes, that is true, and the lack of any liquids except for cooling and braking is another fact. However, if the motor breaks down, you cant simply replace a part in it, you will need to get a completely new one, thats the issue with electronics, they are all connected and circuit easily.

Plus u get free service in Tesla, while waiting they will give you another car in the meantime, no services charges, all the updates of the upcoming models you get standard for free even after few years after your buy. lets say ur model get automatic line adjustments or auto parking, then u can go to any tesla service and u will get the upgrade to it for free. There is free internet in the car for 3 years and all the stations for filling up the power are for free. There is no point to steal that car either because what would u do with that. U would not be able to go to any service garage with stolen car because the are all for free and they would straight found that ur car was stolen and there is no other place where u could go. This is just a revolution in car industry and Elon Musk is exactly that kind of powerful people this wolrd needs. Well done, and very nice review by carbuyer! I would so buy it, having the resources..
