honestly this car with the low grip tires just 4 sec slower than a M4 in the track, and is less than half sec slower than the M4 on the quarter mile. but u can get way more ppl look at u and more than 2 times mileage. This car is a win!!!

@@miscool mines costing about 60€ a week in petrol, for city driving and a heavy foot. we’ve got a full bmw service history with receipts. i’d say the average bill from bmw is 700€

I hope you charged the battery fully, Mat. It has a small battery and would be depleated by the time you got to the country side. There's no point in doing an economy test while excluding any charge for the cells. At 3:17, it shows that it did 40mpg with 2 miles of range left. Also, having a sufficient charge is also necessary to get full and proper performance from the i8. Without any proof that its mileage run included or did not include a full charge, it's in no way fair to say that 40mpg is its real world mileage.

As the saying rightly goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, I still think that saying the i8 is more head turning than an Aventador is a bit of an over optimistic opinion (in my opinion). The Aventador is a very dramatic car. And very pretty. And very loud. That is the definition of "head turning" if you ask me. But then, that's the beauty of beauty, isn't it? Everyone will see beauty differently. And as we all know, one man's meat is another man's poison.

its mpg figure is due to the fact that the petrol engine is able to charge the battery pack in the vehicle when the battery pack charge level drops sufficiently, making it actually possible to achieve well over 100 mpg using electric only. just saying but you got that wrong

Right, so it's not practical, it does no where near the claimed MPG, you need 2 power sources to fuel it, it isn't as quick as other cars that price nor as practical and not as easy to live with. What is the point of it ?

It looks absolutely spectacular, I wanted to love this car. I really did. Sorry if you like this car, but I can't. It's technologically advanced and all, and I'm not saying it's a bad car, but I'd much rather see more old fashioned, "analog" sports cars such as the Camaro Z28, the Viper and of course the GT3 RS. On a race track, not amount of technology can replace the pure, simple fun that these cars can give you. However, I suppose that this is a great car if you want a DD that would attract tons of attention, and would still give some adrenaline on a twisted road.

reiknir Please tell me, how do you define "Sports Car"? And please tell me, what are they exactly? Muscle cars? Just because they're front engine, rear wheel drive cars it doesn't make them Muscle cars. Both are absolutely fantastic on a race track. The Z28, even if it isn't the fastest car around, it's still one of the most fun, engaging track cars you can get. The Viper, well, it's self explanatory, it's MADE to be driven around a track and the Viper ACR is the 6th (I think) fastest car around the Nurburgring, completely humiliates European supercars that cost several times as much. So don't you even fucking dare telling me that they're not sports cars if you don't even know what they're capable of.

Still better than 3 cylinder. imho Aventador's and huracan's interior differs more than bmw 2 and i8. I won't even mention this stupid idea of playing engine noise through loudspeakers.

I know BMW is meant to be a sporty/luxury car manufacturer and yes, this super car is meant to be economical, but they are charging way too much for a 360bhp car. A Ford Focus RS 2016 will cost around £35000 and it has 345bhp. If you want a supercar, get a Porsche 911/Boxster/Cayman or a Nissan GT-R or an Audi R8. If you want an economical hybrid or electric car, get a Toyota Prius or a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Nissan Leaf, etc. This might seem like I dislike the car, but I actually do like the car, I'm quite interested in it actually. It combines a decent amount of power and lots of luxury and good, low economy figures. Keep in mind though that this comment is subjective, my own opinion. I'm not stopping anyone, I'm just trying to say that you should consider this car's rivals when looking at this car 😀

Nearly all bmw's for the past 10years have shown that their dyno figures usually exactly match the claimed figures without the 15-20%losses, so the claimed figures should be higher..
