Love your ability to fix these Teslas. Keep up the videos!

Nice! Yeah, that's the "easy way" I was talking about in my video, but after your description of muddling around with that rear cable junction, I wonder if replacing the plastic gears the way I did it in my video is actually the easy way! Thanks for the citation, btw.

Thanks for the reply and it’s good to know the tags got you, Great video! I might try it your way next time, monkeying around under there isn’t the easiest

Great video. Do you know if this will be a similar fix for a 2016 model x?

Yes it will

Thanks for the video and comments. For my passenger side rear seat (model X), it doesnt latch at all. The seat moves forward and backward as the car drives. Is it the same part that needs to be replaced?

I think I received your email, unfortunately I would be guessing, you would need to do some diagnosing and troubleshooting on your end.

I appreciate the video. I'm in the middle of this repair, but on the PASSENGER side. That single seat has less space, so I'm having a real struggle getting that rear cable box open. There is very little room around it. Have you had any success doing the passenger side?
@reeldealev6 ай бұрын
I have not done a passenger side, I assumed it would be about the same, good to know.

@@reeldealev I finally figured out a way. It's MUCH harder because there's no extra space between components under there. The trick is to temporarily reposition the rear cable junction box for easier access. Here's the way: To get into that rear cable junction box on the passenger side. 1) Remove metal cover plate of old actuator assembly. 2) remove short cable from inside gear and fully detach from actuator assembly. 3) Push cable junction backward toward back of seat until it clears other cables below it, including “pigtail” cable you just detached from actuator. Now it should hang down below the back of the seat. 4) Cut the zip tie and pry the tabs to remove the cover. 5) Remove short cable from junction. 6) Return open junction box to it’s previous position, forward sitting above other cables. 7) Inside junction box, attach new short cable end which is attached to new in-tact actuator assembly to junction box. 8) Snap junction box cover back in place. 9) Zip tie junction box. From there you can proceed with the rest of the re-assembly as previously described.

Thanks for this, have the same problem on passenger side. Really helps!

I'm also doing the passenger side, which part number is it?

Wouldn't be easier to first remove the seat out of the car?

I don’t think so, but I’m open to suggestions.

plastic gears , what a piece of cheap rubbish tesla is making , only a $100,000 car

I mean all cars have plastic gears now, but that isn't really the true problem, do you remember what I said caused the issue?
