Hi! Great Video, I used it to change the High Force Cinching Actuator. I have just replaced the actuator fof my Model S with a new part from Hella (the tailgate beeped before and stayed open 1/2cm, although the rubber buffers Li and Re were screwed in). When I closed the trunk lid for the first time after the replacement (still manually), I heard the new closing motor working (as it should). However, the front display still showed the boot lid open. On the second and every subsequent attempt to close the tailgate, I can no longer hear the new closing motor working (as it did with the old one) I only hear the lock click when I press “Close” on the display or on my cell phone. I am very surprised that the new motor has only closed once. Is it even possible to install it incorrectly or connect it the other way round? There was also no error message in the service menu indicating that a fuse had blown? Do you perhaps know a remedy? Thanks in advance!

I have a 2018 model S 100D, with 230,000+ miles, My tailgate just stopped working the other day, I use the tail gate on a daily bases too (Many times a day), I have no idea where to get the parts for this, I have an appointment with Tesla, see how it goes. Wish me good luck dealing with the service department, I am not a fan of the app service, i like to speak to a live person about the issues. . OK I have an update Arrived at Service Center, in morning, they took my car, provided me with a loaner (Thanks), I went back to office to work, I could see my doors open / shut so i knew they started working very quickly after i dropped off. The total charge was $677.42 They completed late in day. They had other vehicle with issues that took longer to fix before completing my trunk motor replacement. But its now working and I am happy with the outcome but though it was a somewhat high priced for small part to be replaced. This is my .02 cent story on my trunk motor replacement. .

Very helpful. Thanks! I just did this job and your video was a perfect tutorial! Everything was just as you said. I'm even more impressed that you did it with a broken leg. NOTE: It's not mentioned in the video, but you do not need to be connected to Wi-Fi to reload/redeploy the software.

I just got mine delivered but the lack of installation instructions and the assumption that I’ll install them myself is concerning me greatly. Assuming I’m not even in the same state as you, do you have any generic advice as to how I’d go about finding someone in Utah who’d do this installation for me? Also, in the video that Teslaunch has for installation (which is pretty awful) they don’t disconnect the battery. Do you feel that’s actually necessary?😊
@reeldealev20 күн бұрын
It is pretty common practice for these overseas companies to ship products like this with zero instructions and zero support. This is why you find most shops refuse to do these. Yes I do feel disconnect the battery is necessary and it only takes 5 minutes to disconnect. Here is our list of shops: www.reeldealev.com/help-with-repair

We have the parts! You are here watching the video, just repair it yourself and get back to using your tailgate daily. I prefer the app messages now, everything is documented, and you can call them out on lies easier, lol.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what the rear motor has anything to do with the battery heater. If the battery heater is called upon, the system is going to be in parallel mode, and the battery heater is isolated from the drive units. If you use something like scanmytelsa, you can see the battery heater in use, and the temperatures out of the heater, and into the battery.
@reeldealev25 күн бұрын
Most individuals do not have access to scan tools and even if they do (Tesla Service Center 😳) it is misdiagnosed. Doing this requires no special tools or training. The link to the battery heater is ground fault codes.

Just a note, pulling out the black cable you'll hear a short buzz but the tailgate latch may not release. I had to unplug and plug the black connector a couple of times then pop the tailgate lifted up an inch or two and it was free.
@silo809828 күн бұрын
Also I managed to avoid unplugging all of the electrical/speaker connectors on the large tailgate trim piece and just supported it hanging with a bungee cord. Replacing the cinching motor was still pretty easy from there.
@SuperAdamkovics16 күн бұрын
weridly, I cannot get the liftgate to release, no matter how many times I plug/unplug the connector.... every time I plug it back in, I can hear the motor try to move, but it wont release. The emergency cable release handle is also useless, btw, so good to know if you kidnap someone, they won't be able to release the liftgate either...
@silo809816 күн бұрын
@@SuperAdamkovics you may have to just keep trying it. The emergency release black plastic end also broke off when I tried it. Not exactly fit for purpose that release..
