Tesla Model Y & 3 - Nestour Neon Light Kit

Ever since the interior neon light kits were released for the Tesla Model Y and Model 3, I have been keeping a close eye for a decent set. After looking at many products for a while, I finally found a kit that appears to be a very good one.
Since we have white interior in our Tesla Model Y, and in our Model 3, I believed that a light kit would look really good in this car. I was not disappointed once the kit was fully installed and the lights turned on. The glow is incredible, but it also adds some functionality that was not there before.
In the Tesla Model Y and Model 3, there are no floor lights in the rear of the car. It's not a big deal, but at night time, it is nearly impossible to see the floor. If you or your child drop something back there, it is hard to find it until you park. With this kit, it adds lights to the rear floor by mounting under the drivers and passenger seats.
This particular kit can be ordered in 4 different ways, the full kit or partial kit for the updated or old style console. With those 4 options, you are looking at about $95 for the full front and rear, and $65 for just the front. The front includes dash board, center console and 2 floor lights. The full kit adds the seat backs and 2 more floor lights for the rear.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the kit. It took about 2 hours to install in our Tesla Model Y, and most of that time was dedicated to getting the wiring tucked away nicely.

That’s how the 12v plug in the console works so it does turn on when the car does and turns off when the car goes to sleep after a few minutes

Suggestion - Use heat shrink piping over the visible "extra" piping that you don't want lighting up. The matt black piping hides it very well!

After putting a kit like this in an older 3 I found that when you have to make a tight turn with the light strip at the edge of the dash to hide it under the molding it caused the strip to be very dim. That's the toughest part, making those turns like getting into the center console. It's quite a job if you want to hide the wires properly and then you still have that wire running beside the driver's seat in the open. There are other videos that show you how to take off the molding to hide the dash wiring and run it to the console. I don't recommend these lights, they are kind of kludgy.

So I did the vents first and after I did, I changed it up and moved it to the front curve by the speakers. I don't have both lit up, just the curve.

Thank you for your informative videos. I have a question. As you may know, Tesla lighter plug provides more than 12 V (around 15.6) and most tools for example paddle board pump don’t work with this additional voltage. Have you come across any solution for this issue?

Has anyone had issues with the center console not closing properly after install (the lower center area where the lights go around)? You know how it springs back on its own, mine goes super super slow and it now has a scratch on it as too much pressure from the wires being tucked.

i just installed mine and the center console now makes sound like touching the top when sliding like grinding sound. i guess due to adding the plastic thing pushes the plastic down. also how did you tape the back seat light? mine won’t stick on the leather flap.

The only thing that hold me back from getting this kits is about the turning on/off requirement. There's no way to integrated the on/off automatically into the car, it's a hassle to always need to remember to turn it on manually.......and manually turn it off after exiting the car, otherwise it will stay on forever.

I installed some blue lights in mine but not to this extent! Looks great! ⚠️ Warning though... Sometimes Teslas do not play well with 3rd party lights. I installed blue puddle lights and it caused my passenger door's window to not go down when closing the door sometimes. Caused some damage to the paint job.

Yea, I have avoided puddle lights specifically for this reason. Turns out, it’s that puddle light turning on that activates the window to go down. So I highly recommend avoiding puddle lights

Thanks for the video! I have been looking for these lights too and now I have a clearer picture of how to install them if I’ll decide to get them when my model Y will arrive. Frankly it’s a shame that Tesla doesn’t have ambient lights by default in a $55k+ car…come on! it’s standard in entry cars as the VW Jetta and the Taos. I can understand the battle of tech giants of not adopting other standards as CarPlay and android auto, but simply feature that are becoming standard on many cars and that don’t mess up the clean design of Tesla’s interiors should be included.

I hide every cable underneat the middle console like you did. For the front light and dashboard light. I tuck under the plastic trim under the glovebox ( not the glovebox, way under it ) and it goes all the way to the side dashboard. No visible cable except the lighter charger, which I blend in with double side velcro. This is the way! The rear light 3M glue they provide doesnt stick. Make sure to use double side velcro. Its much better. 2 hours ish to make it nice, turn on music and keep jamming!

Cars from 10 years agora more didn’t have heads up display nor ambient light and Tesla represents the future more than another car maker.

They stay on until the car sleeps, which can vary from 5 mins, to 30 minutes. No need to manually turn them off

@@Calvin_Chen As I understood the USB Port and 12V Outlet (Cigarette Lighter) both utilize switched power and will turn off when the car turns off unless the sentry mode is on. So the 'Sentry mode on = 12V on'....means the led lights will be on too. But the led lights won't consume that much power, so it is safe. I have the sentry mode off when I am at home or at work.
