Just to let those out there know this technique still works on 2024 model y performance. I'm sure there are easier ways out there but if you're able to complete one side with this technique, the other side becomes a breeze. Thanks for the video John.

Thanks for the video. I needed to replace a cracked reflector and the Tesla service manual shows the removing the rear bumper...but your technique by slowly working the cracked reflector out is spot on. Cleaned up the area and slide and push...snapped right in. Five minutes tops. Sure beats having to remove the lower fascia...rear bumper...rear lights...side panels....rear trunk seal...guess that's how body shops charge a fortune just to replace the reflector...lol.

Great video, John and thank you for posting. You were correct, it was a pretty involved install… especially if you have mud guards. We ran into some issues when fishing the the wire around… really helps to have a second set of eyes watching the fish tape come through. I also ran into an issue with drilling the hole… I ended up having to make the hole larger than the 3/8th bit I first used to pull the wire though. Other than that, the install was straight forward and your video made all the difference… thank you!

You don't need to fish the wires down to the rear wheel arch. Remove the air vents at the bottom of the back pockets and use that area to fish the wires through and replace the air vents when done.

In fact, I think it should be ok if he left it untapped. The reason being the space behind the reflector is a self contained space, water doesn't go into it.

Not really. It would be next to impossible since the hole for the reflector is so small.

@@MotoTTZ i also like to do this mod. Knowing what you know now, would you do things differently? I've seen a different approach like remove the rear bumper slightly and snaking the wires through. Your way seems to remove a lot of panels off and I'm nervous of my ability to put things back in order.

I have taken my vehicle in for repair a few times. Installing the reflectors didn't void my warranty. Of course, your mileage may differ.

Nice video. You worked very fast. I was wondering if the fender is hollow? More specifically, is the area between the reflector and the hitch opening is hollow?

No, there is a steel between there, but you can route the wires.
