After all the negative comments I’ve heard about the build quality of Tesla, I actually think this looks quite well put together! (I say this after having to pull apart some of my early cars for repairs in my twenties and comparing)
@darekmistrz43642 жыл бұрын
Teslas "Made in China" are spot on. When I was receiving mine, there was nothing to comment about. After few days rear lights fogged up just a bit, but I guess this is chronic ilness of their products. Warranty covers that, but only if more than 50% of rear case is fogged up. With new Berlin cars we can see lower quality than "Made in China" but that is expected for a factory that is brand new and just started.

Impressed with the repair cost, process and parts availability. Meanwhile, my cracked model 3 windscreen has been unrepaired for 3 months with Autoglass saying there’s a global shortage and Tesla also having thin pickings. Luckily it’s not impeding my vision so it’s good to continue driving, but others have been parked up for months now. I ordered a Ford Ranger exhaust - that took 2 months and cost £4,000 So not amazing outside of Tesla.. I think the part cost very reasonable and time scale acceptable for a brand new model. I’m confident a bmw/audi/merc or whatever else brand would cost more for any of their new models. Probably including Ford for a new Focus
@davidlewis43992 жыл бұрын
Considering there are virtually none in the UK that's not a surprise. Probably had to be imported from the US Ford parts made in EU and have no import duty. Considering Tesla are the most popular EV on the planet spares costs and availability are pathetic. Drive something good and exotic and repairs cost a lot. Point I was making buy a normal car and repair costs are reasonable with Tesla they are not.

Why is it so expensive to insure a Model Y? Google searches say the parts are expensive and repairs have to be done by certified Tesla technicians. I get that for issues arising from the High Voltage system but for these minor cosmetic jobs they are the same if not cheaper, which disproves the statement that even minor damage repairs are sometime uneconomical to repair.

@NameNaameNameeNaamee2 жыл бұрын
The removal of the bumper really is unnecessarily complicated. You can clearly see that Tesla still has lot's to learn. Also, 300 bucks is not cheap for a part like this.
@peterwilliamson18252 жыл бұрын
Manufacturers don't design bodywork to be disassembled they design it to be assembled quickly. Those plastic rivet fasteners take a second to fit but are fiddly to remove.
@onlineo22632 жыл бұрын
It's supposed to be a bumper. It should be much easier to repair than this.
@peterwilliamson18252 жыл бұрын
That's still FAR easier to remove then the bumper of many other cars such as the Audi TT which you need to remove to change a headlight.
@NameNaameNameeNaamee2 жыл бұрын
@@peterwilliamson1825 Not true. A lot of experience and effort goes into designing these parts so they are up to spec, but can be replaced quickly and easily. Ease of removal directly tanslates into cost of replacing as well as the magnitude of insurance fees. Making a part functional in that sense is a high art an really shows how much a manufacturer has their game mastered. In other words - this bumpe really shows, that Tesla is miles away from what a real car manufacturer can offer in terms of quality construction.
@NameNaameNameeNaamee2 жыл бұрын
@@peterwilliamson1825 The Audi TT is a sports car, different rules apply there. The Model Y is marketed as a family car. Serviceability and cost effectiveness are the main concerns of auto makers in that segment. If this is the best Tesla can do, they can't do much, which actually pretty much screams at you any place you take a closer look at a Model 3 oder Model Y. They are cheaply made vessels to get you into the Tesla ecosystem, sold woth at a premium. Tesla tries to sell this "non car" as some sort of minimalist aestetics icon, but it's nothing more than a car made as cheap as possible. The build quality is bad, the ride is bad, the value for money is bad, the dashboard...well, there is none, the HUD...well there is none, the opening sunroof...well there is none, the matrix headlights...well there are none that work, but hey, they do a Tesla light show. The latter says it all. The lights can do it, Tesla simply can't programm it to be street worthy. Heck they even took the radars out, with horrific results for the Autopilot performance.
