A couple of tips, you can get into service mode by going to software menu, and press and hold the screen on the “dual motor” work, until you see a flash. Then, it asks for a password. Enter “service” and you can see the full service menu, and alerts that sometimes don’t show to the normal user interface. Good luck, love the video and series.

The black circles that were on top of the taillights like you said help hold them on don't really help hold them on. The primary purpose of them is the trunk alignment. Whenever the back of the trunk is not flush with the body panels you can adjust those circles by turning them clockwise or counterclockwise to raise or lower the trunk that way it can be flush with the surrounding body panels

The unused 3- pin connector under the rear bumper is for the optional trailer light controller. It has GND, LIN, and +12V. The connectors you pointed out going to the cameras and black box on the roof beam (antenna) are co-ax (coaxial) cables. There is no fiber optics in that car.

Taking a total guess here, but I would think that rear unused connector is for a trailer adapter. Probably a Tesla specific connector that decides from a canbus style signal like the headlights. I would guess those black boxes in the upper pillar are a cellular/gps and or Wi-Fi antenna system for the nav and infotainment.

RE: Camera array You can put the cameras in calibration mode. This happens when you get a windshield replacement. Those fine set screws aren't for a manual calibration. I've had my Model 3 slammed to the ground and re-calibrated, then now it has a 2" lift. Re-calibrated... AP and FSD work just fine. Tesla is smart, the calibration happens in software, not physically, that way they can add the cameras to vehicles of a different shape (Model 3, Y, X, Cyber truck) and it will self-calibrate. I'm guessing they just have to be in a relatively "close" position, where they have sufficient overlap, so they can create a 360º map of the world.
@aaronb7990
@aaronb7990 Жыл бұрын
I think this too. As long as it can put together the 360 I think it will be fine with it. The autopilot system is a second level past the video input. The cameras go to a mixer that makes the 360 and then passes that to the Autopilot to draw its virtual world that it operates in. They did and I think still do have a couple of algorithms that haven't been converted from a single camera input. But I imagine if all is back in similar positions, it will be OK with it.

The B pillar cameras were only turned on about a year ago. 3 main cameras in the front at the top of the windshield are by far the most important, nothing else is necessary but it will complain if you remove the other cameras. I'd bet autopilot will work perfectly as long as the front cameras are in the center of the vehicle and at roughly the same pitch as they were in the M3 At 12:50 those are designed to be backed out to adjust panel gaps when the trunk is closed. Multi purpose.

Your headlight wiring looks like the LED light strings I play with: 12v, Ground, Signal. The signal talks to a microprocessor in the headlight assembly which then controls the behavior of the LEDs based on the instructions received from the master processor. You need to retain all the primary computer controllers, else replace the light assemblies entirely with traditional lighting. I'll bet the taillight assemblies are wired and behave the same.

In the little console/ drink holder thing on the door panel, there is a rubber mat at the bottom, if you remove that, there is a square plastic panel you can remove with a screw driver, then there’s a cord you can pull that manually releases the door. I don’t own a Tesla, so I don’t know if it’s real, or if it’s in all teslas, but worth a try.

The headlights wires are power, ground and Lin bus. Most likely that the body control module sends a message over Lin bus to tell the headlamp module what it needs to do. The leds take very little amperage to work so there's no need for a heavier gauge of wire. This method eliminates a ton of wires in the harnesses because everything is handled with only 3 wires.
