the white interior is an absolute must. it is just such a vibe.

been looking at other videos and people were complaining of the bolt breaking from the weld when removing the rear bolts. Guessing you are one of the lucky few who didn't have this problem.

Mudflap season. It appears that the AO flaps have a little scoop to catch crud and let gravity drop it, but the flat Tesla one, the crud just slides off the side higher resulting in more crud on the side of the car. It is possible that the right side of the road has more debris in winter, too. All that wintry road slush slides down the scooped guard as you can see 6:55.

I got the Abstract Ocean mud flaps after I noticed the rear paint chips. Had a detailer look at the car and he also suggested the PPF over the rear area (although it was too late to prevent any damage). I like the AO look and am impressed with the protection! Model Y owners Get Flaps(!) no matter where you live. My damage was caused by freeway repair and mud on roads!

I went with the Amazon BASENOR flap set and was really impressed with them. They’re very secure, install easy, offer slightly more protection, and don’t do the weird factory Tesla length thing. Would highly recommend.

I got the same ones and I’m very happy with them.

Ive had the AO flaps since introduced and they have protected for most of my winter, they look good and worth purchasing. Kee[ u[ the good videos you have the best installation videos. I would like to steal your garage.

The Abstract Ocean ones look so much better and appear to perform the best. Wish these were out when I first got the Y as it definitely is needed. Will be putting these on and the PPF.

The AO flaps definitely look much nicer, more integrated into the body styling. Those will be my choice also as here in SW Colorado we see a lot of dirt roads, most with MagChlor bound into the dirt top layer which helps keep the road solid until the first or second mud season storm in the Spring. Cheers and thanks for the videos.

Mud flaps are a must on any vehicle unless they hover! Tesla needs to include for future vehicles id say

I like how these are literally the same mud flaps sold on Tesmanian site. Only difference is Tesmanian's version doesn't have a third hole for the 10mm bolt that people keep seeming to have issues with. It's pretty unnecessary anyway. I have them from Tesmanian without the third hole and they fit perfect without any issues.

In the UK they gave us free mud flaps. They are different to your Tesla ones. They come in two sections which allow you to have long flab’s like your Tesla ones or short flaps like your Non OEM ones.

Srsly, no other Tesla channel can beat you guys for actual testing. I am not a fan of the look of mudflaps, but I do a ton of gravel/dirt road driving and seeing the AO ones on car and how much protection they offer, I may need to order set.

Thanks! I was very impressed with how will they did keeping dirt away from the car

You didn’t show what debris the aftermarket caught in those open pockets on the front. Seems like a poor design and not aerodynamic at all.

Had them on my 3 and now I'm going to get them for my Model Y Thanks

OEM flaps look like they would take a beating on speed bumps. Maybe even a pothole would rip these right off the car.
@noodle37683 жыл бұрын
I installed the rear flaps, but took them off immediately. Because there is no panel to protect behind. They just add drag.

I needs these for my X. I also did the PPF, which was pretty cheap.

Thanks for the comparison. I am kind of surprised that the Tesla OEM one allowed more road dirt to land on rocker panels. It looks like it sticks out farther and definitely hangs lower. Just seems like it would HAVE to prevent more road dirt impact to rocker panels. Do you have any idea why it did not work as good?

I’ve been watching a couple of mudflat installation videos. Does no one clean the wheel well before installation. Does it matter or am I just being anal?

I do not like that aftermarket mud flap because it has a hollow mud catcher. Other brands, which are also injection molded, do not have those dysfunctional unattractive pockets. His brand went for the simplest mold design which the flatter Teslas also did. These after market flaps have more of a 3 dimensional form which I like better than the flatter Teslas. However there are brands with the 3 dimensional look that avoided the mud catcher pockets. I haven’t purchased my Y yet so I don’t have the ones I am favoring. They are A-Premium 4 Mud Flaps from Amazon. Any input from people who are already using these would be appreciated.

I tried the A-Premium mud flaps. The clips that held them at the bottom didn’t hold the flap firmly in place. I had to return them. Shopping for a better set now.

This channel seems to be turning into an Abstract Ocean channel. The design of the aftermarket flaps is absolutely terrible! Very poor design with the massive mud-catcher holes, plus I cannot imagine the bad aerodynamics and sounds that must come from them at speed.

Unfortunately I had to return my AO Mud Flaps because when I tried to remove the 10mm bolts for the rears, the inadequate Tesla spot welds on the capture nut inside broke loose and I didn't feel like tearing the entire rear apart to fix or weld back the original nuts. I've heard this is an issue with early build Y's. Mine is a June 2020 build.
