When standing up there on the rear sill, I would lower the door glass to give you more room and avoid damaging the glass

Thanks for the video. I was wondering how is the Model Y with a full length ski box? For example the Yakima SkyBox Cargo Box - 12? Can you still lift the rear hatch all the way up with a long ski box? Or do you have to limit the lift?

Have you done a range-comparison test flipping the box around? There's been a few articles saying it's way more efficient only loses about 3% vs 16% of range when the box is reversed

Hello, no, we have not attempted that comparison. Yakima has worked to design the box with the best possible aerodynamics in its forward position, also the crossbar mounting hardware is direction specific and not reversible. Thanks for your comment.

He mentioned that the crossbars support 165lbs, which seems woefully insufficient for a tent + occupant(s).

@@DanielRall Just fyi - the 165lbs is dynamic load, ie jostling around while driving while kinetic forces are in tremendous effect. The static load is what you care about for a roof tent, and as MY bars are yakima OEM, the static load is said to be 600lbs. I haven't done it myself, thats just the actual spread of the numbers.

That's correct and rear hatch interferance if you want to open it fully.
