Heard this song on the radio in 1986 and immediately went to the nearest Fred Meyer electronics section looking for it... I didn't know the band or song name but had to have it. Fortunately for me I found a clerk there about my age at the time and I asked about new releases. He asked me if I knew how the song went and I said "Bang bang, shoot 'em up" in my best rock voice for all standing near to hear. He immediately said "Tesla, Modern Day Cowboy" and grabbed the CD from the rack. This comment is a great big thank you to that unknown rock soldier that helped me in my time of need on that fateful day. To this day I still have the CD, listen to it regularly, and will likely be buried with it when the final bell tolls. Rock on 🤘

I'd have to totally disagree.....I think Tesla are pretty much horrible.....didn't like them in the 80's, still don't. The only decent tune they made in my opinion, was the remake of "signs". Can't stand the singers voice.....horrible...and the music just sucks...just saw them open for REO and Def Leppard, both those bands are still as great as ever....there's a reason Tesla is an opening band and not a headliner...it's because they simply aren't good enough to headline........Just listened to that Modern Day Cowboy tune...horrible!!!!!.....I'm sure many will disagree, but the facts don't lie...they don't sell out concerts and fill stadiums or headline because they can't. Def Leppard and REO on the other hand, have been doing it their entire careers.....

I f'n LOVE Tesla! I'm 50 now. Been m rocking with them since the 80's. Cruising around with my bro in his lowered d-50 mini truck with a stereo that could compete with all the bass that was getting popular. I'd crank the treble all the way up and rip the volume knob off to this song! We we're so lucky to grow up in that generation of music. It is legendary and will always be "rad"! Lol Yeah '89!

Angela Jones when you take months at a time all alone in a room, constantly listening to a mix of rock tracks (guitar and vocals) you begin to process it better. People fall flat on their face because the don't have the tools and they haven't even broken anything down. The people that try to do it just jump straight in without knowing what they're doing. That's why they fall.

Thunder rolled and the lightnin bolts Come crashin to the ground Cold as ice, hard as stone As he walks into the room, with Another man who was feelin the same way All hell's breakin loose Bang Bang, shoot'em up Bang Bang, blow you away It's a showdown, in a no man's land For the cowboy of the modern day. Come on, sundown, don't be hangin 'round Cause the cowboy will blow you away Al Capone and A Bad Boy Jones On the wrong side of the law. Johnny D and his company Always fisrt to the draw. Gangster lean, feelin so mean Tryin to take more than their share. Cause all they saw was ruling it all. The scent of blood was in the air. Bang Bang, shoot'em up. Bang Bang, blow you away. It's a showdown, in a no man's land For a cowboy of the modern day. Come on, sundown, don't be hangin round Cause the cowboy will blow you away. yeah. Here we are and we've come this far But it's only getting worse. The foreign lands with their terrorist demands Only cause the good to hurt. The U.S.A the U.S.S.R. With their six guns to their sides. I see the message written on the wall Too much anger deep inside. Bang Bang, Shoot'em up Bang Bang, Blow you away. It's a showdown, in a no man's land For the cowboy of the modern day. Come on, sundown, don't be hangin round Cause the cowboy will blow you away It's a showdown

The first time I heard this song and I replayed it over and over BLASTING in my old F250 for about a 12 pack... in my driveway. Wow... what a vivid memory of that! I'll never forget it. Welcome to the Jungle was exactly the same too!! There's something unforgettable about the first time you hear mind blowing songs like this. It's like it defined that period of life.

BF bought Mechanical Resonance album in Jan '87. Lstened to CD on repeat Fri & Sat night. His parents bought us beer if we stayed there, kick ass deal when you're 16. Got to see 'em open for Def Leppard's Hysteria Tour -Dallas Dec '87. Stage in middle of arena slowly rotating. Had great seats. Really thought Tesla would take off but never received air play needed to be popular. One of best nights of my life & I'm 52 still listening to them... Never gets old.

Early Tesla still in my regular rotation. I legit still get a fckn chill up my spine EVERY time i hear this. When i watch the video, I freeze up, and turn in to that 17 year shitty guitar player kid i was, and cant take my eyes off the screen. Im mystified by what the newer generations listen to. They can NOT have the same emotional passion/connection to the "music" of today. So sad. Although im older now, i never left the 80s, and proudly never will.

Hey, Tesla's Modern Cowboy is one of my favorite songs by them. I remember in the very early 80's there was band called, "Momas Boys" that open the show for Cheep Trick in Rochester, NY. They crank!
@markottewell88973 жыл бұрын
@@avg0062 if it’s the same mamas boys they did “ needle in the groove”. A trio of brothers from Ireland that formed Celtus when one of them passed away, they performed more traditional Irish music rather than the blues rock which they started out with. They were very good though.
