Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) calibration is a critical process that must be performed only after a precise mechanical alignment has been completed. The vehicle must remain on the alignment rack with turnplates in place to ensure that the wheels are properly aligned and all variables like steer-ahead are accurately set. The alignment machine’s sensors are specifically calibrated to detect and confirm when steer-ahead is truly zero-something that cannot be reliably achieved by visual estimation alone. Skipping this step or relying on uncalibrated tools can lead to significant issues with modern vehicle systems, such as ESC and ADAS. These systems rely heavily on the accuracy of the SAS to ensure proper operation. Misalignment can cause the vehicle’s safety features to malfunction, potentially leading to warning lights, system deactivation, or even a limp mode response in some cases. Performing SAS calibration as part of a professional alignment process ensures that all related systems function as intended, preserving vehicle safety and performance. It’s a detail that reinforces why specialized training and equipment are indispensable in achieving optimal results.

I totally agree. When he said "you should be on a straight surface" and showed a strip mall parking lot, I just had to shake my head

Hey how I get the car back to normal no service mode
@Danjr7044 ай бұрын
When you tap on the car icon while in service mode there’s a button on the bottom that says exit service. You can see at 2:26 just pause video.

Is this only after the wheel alignment OR can I do it for without wheel alignment?

Crap these steps weren’t done at pep boys. When driving home I noticed I was not in the center of the lane when AP was activated. After you drive it to check it was steps are next after u get back?

My car still pulls to the right after 2 alignments, the steering angle torque sensor is showing 0.6 Nm, is there a way to reset that, or is the sensor bad?

Same here…. Wondering the same. Had two alignments and it veirs right. Steering wheel is crooked to the left.

Mine does this too, it’s either inside tire is wearing or bad steering column. I had one model y column replaced and my other just needed back tires
@cashu2Ай бұрын
@@al3xcruzit definitely wasn’t anything to do with the tires, I just had them replaced before having the alignments done. I will have to check on the steering column, Thanks!

This is after we do the alignment? And do nothing before going in for the alignment? So we don’t have to be in service mode pre alignment
