This panel can put out close to 100 watts kzbin.infoUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle. The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts. If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

+Steve Lion Yeah, well enjoy it while you can, kiddo. I doubt you (we) will make it another 10 years, and that's being quite optimistic. There are just too many people in the world with access to nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. ISIS is already here, in America, and God only knows what kind of WMD's they have, just waiting to unleash on us. I was born in the perfect year, 1959. I got to experience the 60's and 70's to their fullest. I was too young for the draft during Vietnam and too old for it in Desert Shield and Storm. I was a pioneer in personal computing, building my first "Sinclair" computer and then owning about every model that came out, from a Commodore Vic 20 and 64, to a TRS-80, PC Jr, and then I started building PC clones for people. I ran three different BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems). I got to see the technology evolve to where it is now, and am able to appreciate it far more than those born into it. I started out on Hollerith punch cards in a shoe-box in lieu of a floppy disc!

In California PG&E, our local grid owner, now charges me as a consumer of electricity primarily for access to the grid, not for the power. Before this year I didn't have an economic reason to leave the grid, but now, if I can find a way to leave I can probably save money. The success of local power storage could very well lead to the death of the grip... which would probably be a good thing.

My Physics Teacher already lives completely off the grid. He told me that it is not easy, you have to watch your energy consumption. Especially in Winter, when there is less sun and a generally higher Energy Consumption. But all in all it is feels just great being completely independent and you actually save money.

This very information video is now out-of-date. The new Powerwall 2.0 has just been released (November 2016), with double the storage capacity of the first Powerwall (it has 14kWh versus the original 7 kWh). It's peak power output is 7kW and it can provide 5kW continuously, which is more than double of the original Powerwall. Not only that, the cost has reduced and its more compact than before. One Powerwall 2.0 is enough to power a 4-bedroom home through an entire night.

No mention of Trump being the greatest human in the history of humans. Trump supporters "know" climate change is a hoax. They "know" that the fact that the planet is warming is a hoax. They "know" God created the Universe for humans... ...waited billions of years to finally create the Sun and planets in our solar system... ...wait billions of years and create countless forms of life on this planet before finally creating humans... uh, what was I talking about? I get confused when there is too much BS involved.

Lithium ion batteries also potentially use elements such as (but not limited to) Graphite, Nickel and Cobalt. The batteries then need to be disposed of or hopefully recycled in some way at their end of life. Both of these things are potentially harmful for the environment. It's hardly clean energy we're talking about but I guess what matters practically is wether or not it's 'clean' relative to its predecessors.

Open source is a very cool way to go because other people can then try and expand and make the technology even better. it's the ideas of all the people coming together to change it and make it better and better . it's the idea that two minds are better than one, and 10better than 5. We all help the technology , be participants. it's the way it should be but most people let money and greed get in the way and they create a patten, which limits creativity and it limits the evolution of humanity

Insightful pros and cons of this innovative technology. I really enjoy watching your videos for their aesthetic flow. You do a great job mixing direct captures with abstract visuals to create a feeling of whatever futuristic feeling the topic might hold. I am a fan.

The mining for the raw materials today, in 2017, has a higher cost in human life then that of coal mining, 20 years ago. It causes more deaths in South Africa than war. It comes from Congo, goes to China to became a battery, then it is shipped to Tesla, to become a supercar.

This is the same argument against all green technology, when will it catch up with how wasteful we are? Electric cars are only practical 95% of the time, all people care about is the 5% they aren't practical. Gee I can't run my toaster, dryer and stove at the same time! How about not running them at the same time? We're spoiled and don't want to be bothered to plan our day. Then buy two power walls so you can run virtually everything at the same time and you can last several days without sun. Problem solved. Guess what, convenience costs more! Most people pay a bundle for convenience so why is it so upsetting when the same is true about the electricity that powers all those conveniences?

1500W ELECTRIC COFEE MACHINE 950 W TOASTER??? jajjaja such a waste. What about heating with heat not electrical power. That´s being efficient. Such companies with ultra high power consuming devices will go out of business really soon.

+Rodrigo Aguilar "Heating with heat"? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume what you meant is just unclear, and ask you to clarify. How do you propose we heat water "with heat"? What mechanism can achieve this in a less wasteful manner?

Solar-thermal. Works when the skies are cloudy, because solar-thermal works like a greenhouse, and utilises UV. Hot water requires no heating!
