**SENTRY MODE STILL WORKS WITH STANDARD CONNECTIVITY BUT YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO VIEW IT ON YOUR PHONE**
Premium Connectivity vs standard
I've had premium connectivity since I've owned my Tesla. I'm going to go without it for a month and I'll report back to you with how it went.
By using Octopus energy you could be saving £££'s on your electric bill.
Octopus GO is a great supplier and gives you 4 HOURS of cheap rate electric or Intelligent where you get 6 HOURS of cheap rate electric and if you use this referal code we will both get £50 credit when you sign up.
Octopus GO Referral - share.octopus.energy/umber-ro...
Like my screen in night colours, you'll need a protector like this...

I have been driving for 5 months, never used any of the premium features so didn't even notice when the free time was up. Sales staff never explained features, just said watch the manual videos.

You didn't even mention the satellite maps, that's one of the best features I think and the one I probably miss the most. If you're ever looking for a layby on a country road, normal maps are no good, satellite makes that easy.

Well, my premium connectivity 30 day trial has ended and will now see if I miss anything without it. So far I would say no, not missing anything I dseperately need. Being retired, I do just short daily trips around town and do not need to sit in my Model Y for any long time while it is parked. Charging is done only at home in the garage. 1 - I never used the more detailed graphical Navigation maps during my 30 days. 1a - normal navigation mapping is great and good enough for me. 2 - i use just the FM radio while driving, nothing else. 3 - Internet/streaming only worked when parked, so tried it briefly but not needed. 3a - I use internet/streaming on my home PC, so I get enough use of this then. 4 - Did not use any of the fancy music stuff - again FM radio good enough. All that said above, when I am parked in my garage the model Y does connect to my WIFI, so all this premium connectivity stuff then works. So I am not totally without using it if I want to sit in my car in the home garage and try something.

Now the big question that I would like answered. If the car did not have any connectivity at all using the car’s built-in SIM, but you paired the car over WiFi to a dongle that remains in the car permanently, what functionality do you loose? This is for cases where Teslas are brought into countries where standard connectivity is non existent.

As far as I am aware, you will lose traffic visualisation and satellite maps. You will still have live traffic just no way of knowing where it is. I do like knowing where the traffic jam is, especially if it’s an area I know because I might know of a shortcut the car hasn’t shown me. All the other features will work once paired.

I’m sure I’d manage without it, however it’s only £10/month, and it would be like buying an iPad and never connecting it to Wi-Fi

Not really, I just use my mobile hotspot and still get to watch youtube, netflix ect that way. So as long as you have signal on your phone it's just the satellite maps and a couple of other features that you miss out on if you don't have premium connectivity.
@thercsev
@thercsev 9 ай бұрын
Very fair comment, you can just hotspot and get most of the features...although only £10/month...if you invest it wisely it suddenly becomes more than £10

So far…I’ve found it annoying. Not because I’m missing features but because every time I get in it displays a ‘you haven’t got premium, you should get premium, premium is great’ *not a direct quote* 😂

Your car has a build issue. The steering wheel is on the wrong side. You should take apart your car and put the steering wheel on the other side.

Got a good laugh out of that. Seriously, the clean interior of the Model 3/Y does look easy to manufacturer for either left- or right-hand usage. For me as a right handed person, I would find using my left hand to access touchscreen items a bit of a challenge. I think the biggest challenge would be driving on narrow rural roads in England. I'm used to wide roads with emergency shoulders which are common in the midwestern USA.

I am paying for premium connectivity. $99 per year. Seems like a no brainer to me, even though I wish they would just include it instead of nickle and diming me. The only feature from it that I need is the traffic visualization, so I can choose routes to avoid the orange roads. I spend hours every day commuting, so I want it to be as seamless as possible. No offense but the tesla center console youtube completely sucks and my phone is far superior, so I don't need Tesla's crappy youtube. If they had good youtube, that would be a different issue. Tesla could vastly improve the quality of their product by improving the center console. Allow casting from the phone to the console, make the center console possible to personalize. It would be nice if we would stop getting autosteer strikes from using the center console since THAT IS PART OF DRIVING. Also speed up the computer because the current computer totally sucks for youtube.
