FSD will NEVER get to the level where regulators will allow you to drive without constant input to prove you are focusing on the road. I own a Tesla and I became bearish once I realized the the FSD capabilities were way overblown. Also, an EV is super inconvenient unless you own a home or have your own private charge station. But home ownership is becoming more and more impossible for the ever shrinking middle class. EV's will never entirely replace ICE cars in my opinion. They will own a significant chunk of the market though.

They will own electric vehicles with solid-state batteries - huge range and quick to charge. Completely comparable in spent time to filling up the tank at the gas station. They won’t own Teslas though.

Tesla hasn't changed their approach. The fact remains that nostalgia is blinding experts. Traditional automakers can't afford to invest the amount of money needed to catch up to Tesla ... Even with their open source patents, the amount of money needed to create a factory from the ground up to accommodate EV production, plus a workforce "QUALIFIED" to build EVs (not ICE cars) is a 360 ° flip for traditional OEMs. But don't believe me... The biggest threat to Tesla isn’t established brands, it’s the new Chinese start ups and manufacturers. Their acceleration in development of in car tech, autonomous driving capability, and ability to deliver an equivalent driving experience for literally half the price of a Tesla is mind blowing. What industry? Currently the 'industry' is fleeing from solutions that Tesla intends to offer. (I know that here you are going to try to talk about fantasies and things that you have heard from afar and you have not understood anything) Companies like ABB have been offering for decades multiple solutions around the world in that field, also have proven experience and a hugeeeeeee customer base. And they are many decades ahead of what Tsla can offer many more decades from now (in any industrial market). That is the objective reality now in the 'industry'. Your vision is very limited and evidently uneducated in this regard. That is why Tesla's valuation is the way it is. I'm glad that Tesla isn't such a hot stock. I'm glad it's cheaper rn too. My biggest concern is remote work. I personally quit the rat race and no longer sit in traffic 2+ hours a day. The increasing trend of hybrid work is also worrying. If people don't need a car for work, they're also likely to forgo getting one altogether and use public transport (robo taxi is musk's checkmate here, but as a South African, I know those taxis are going to get stolen out of viability. Musk, as a south african had to have considered this as well so perhaps he has a plan. until then, i am still worried)

Whats your thoughts on Toyota criticising EVs lifecycle? They prefer hybrids

EVs seem very capable of going to 100k-200k miles with no issue. This is roughly where a lot of ICE cars ever get to as well. Hybrid is completely pointless. You have a gas powered car that is also lugging electric motors and an electric battery. And if you're using the electric for the very short range, you are carrying around the super heavy ICE engine, gas tank and all the peripherals. Makes no sense.

​@@SashaYanshinEV's make sense in cities and where short runs are the most common journey therefore I'd suggest that hybrids (EV augmented ICE) actually make far more sense for most drivers. Also Li-Ion battery tech degrades surprisingly quickly with age and even quicker when fast charged, so your EV might start of with a potential 200k mile theoretical potential life but that would likely be the greatest of the limiting factors.

Sasha-I respect your frank market analyses and always enjoy your videos. However, I do not think FSD will be the holy grail many analysts think it will be (certainly nothing like the Nvidia GPU). I hardly profess to be knowledgeable about Tesla cars, but when I Uber in one, I am always quite surprised (actually astonished) by the rather prehistoric capabilities of the camera screen of the road-for example, why can’t it show oncoming cars…..

I use a modified DCA to aquire tesla shares. Works for me. Tesla is way ahead of compeditors, is reaching most people, and scales with the economy. Now if Tesla could scale against BYD and a lower economy then that would be really ripe for the picking.

i like your thoughts, but until FSD can do six sigma or better in order to actually get certified as a safe system, we may not even use cars anymore 🛸 DOT is keepings it's eyes closed in FSD development. that might change. Also, other manufacturers are heavily invested and working in full FSD, but they're not naive enough to test using the customers, nor do they straight up lie to the customers about its safety and capabilities. Also, radar cruise control for traffic jams can be done by almost any manufacturer.

You make some valid points, but others seem wildly optimistic, and it doesn't sound like you've done much search on companies doing self driving. I don't believe driving automation will be anything like the charging infratructure, there'll be plenty of competition once the regulatory enviornment ready. Plenty of companies have been driving data, and unlike infratruture that takes years to built, self driving software will have relatively low barrier to entry.

The issue around the self driving concept is that I have yet to see any research that either says that consumers want it or that governments will allow it to be fully deployed. It is extremely unlikely that anyone will be allowed to sit in the back of their car driving a bottle of whisky or reading a newspaper while en route to work so what problem does the concept of self driving actually solve? I can see that logistics companies would be delighted to ship goods with no human at the wheel but is that really going to happen in the next 10 years? As for the consumer, he/she is going to still have to sit behind the wheel "in control" even if the car can drive itself so I am failing to see the benefit of self driving and how that will give Tesla the edge over the competition. I feel they are still enjoying first mover advantage and trading on the USP of superior battery tech so that may keep them in the lead for now.

The FSD SOFTWARE originated in the production line and is still used there and is under appreciated IMO; it is also used in the Tesla bot 🤖. Just imagine how fast the bot will improve. What will end to end neural nets do for the production lines and how quickly will the Tesla bot improve with this step change is absolutely massive.

At 4:30, my two cents is that Toyota will challenge Tesla with their hybrid line up that they are about to dial up and people are starting to like the idea of hybrid (integrated that gives you mileage of 40+) over purely electric. As far as self driving is concerned. I think people will prefer practicality of a IC long range integrated self charging hybrid over purely electric for the next 10-15 years.

​@@rogerstarkey5390 i may be using wrong terminology here but I am talking about is the mechanics that for example Prius employs. It gives 45+ average per gallon on the highway. That model is much more practical than an EV to me. time will tell but my bet is on the hybrid before EVs become a household due to practical limitations IMHO.
