You guys are always awesome! I havent ordered the A2Z adapter yet, but will very soon! Isnt it great to have a much better looking ev and have access to superchargers?😅

I've got some time before my car will get supercharger access, so the A2Z adapter I bought is really a backup for those other networks that are swapping out CCS for NACS. I'm already starting to see this happen on the road, either as a Tesla CCS-NACS adapter bolted onto a CCS plug (seen on a couple EVCS stations) or as a native NACS cable (seen so far at Chargepoint HQ and confirmed is working w/ my adapter). My Mini only gets around 110 mi range, so it's worth having options in case I need it.

I just took ownership (this past Tuesday) of a ‘23 GT thanks in part to Ford’s rebates/0% and most importantly this VLOG. I’m going on our first road trip with an EV and needless to say I’m not in possession of the Tesla adapter yet. No one has them in stock either. Fingers crossed!

Nice presentation of the current EV charging world from a non-Tesla vehicle stand point. Thank you.

Thank you both, as always! Have you ever had a destination charger not work with your adapter?
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
We haven't, but I know there are some newer Tesla destination chargers that the owners can lock out non-Tesla cars.

I already have two "destination" adapters to charge my Ioniq 5 with my Tesla HPWC and my Tesla UMC when away from home. The only difference is that mine aren't from Lectron, but A2Z. They work well! I hope Hyundai, Kia, Genesis will gain access to Superchargers soon, and then I'll order a CCS1 adapter.

You guys are so AWESOME!! I love all the information you give to us. Quick question, how are you enjoying your MachE and would you recommend it?
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
We absolutely love it. We review other cars and there are some good ones out there. But we're always happy to be back in our Mach-E.

Tried to order my free Ford adaptor from my dealer and i was told because I bought it used, the previous owner already claimed the free charger. So now i have no choice but to go 3rd party, unless Ford's become more readily available. 😒

Hey Patrick & Liv, I think security is solved for these adapters. If you lock the Mach-e, software disables the release button at charge port. I believe most EVs with buttons, including my MB, work this way. Try it to confirm.
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
That is not the case right now with the Mach-E. We've tried it.
@johnpoldo88176 ай бұрын
@@MachE_VLOG I’m shocked to hear that because Tom Moloughney says that’s how his Lightning behaves. He claims most other EVs lock the adapter with vehicle.

We've had one since 2016, now use in Japan, must have

If you want one charger connector to do level 1, level 2, & fast charging, you will need a Tesla vehicle. Then you can use any Tesla charger to charge.
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
But then you'd need an adapter for J1772 or CCS. Either way, I didn't pick my car based on how it connects to a charger. That's really low on my priorities since 95% of the time I charge at home. Our priorities included styling, ride quality, build quality, Android Auto & CarPlay compatibility, and driver's assistance features.
@johnpoldo88176 ай бұрын
We can get away from nuisance adapters. Starting in 2025, most EVs will ship with J3400. Then, most DC fast chargers should also have J3400 and you can change the plug on your home charger. I’m already planning to trade in my CCS EV for one with J3400.

Not saying anything negative about other evs, but sure glad i have a Tesla, so i dont have to deal with all these issues.
@MachE_VLOG6 ай бұрын
It's not really an issue. We're glad we have our car and 95% of the time we just plug in at home. And the car is great! Fantastic looks, quality paint, great build quality, Android Auto and CarPlay, hands free ADAS, superb ride quality with MagneRide, 360 camera, real parking sensors, and more.

I think having a slower charging speed, less efficiency, and limited access to the Supercharger network is not an issue unless you take many long trips or don't have access to charging at home or work. A MME or even a Chevy Bolt are great for those who don't take constant long trips or can't charge at home. Vehicles like the Lucid Air with a range of 500 miles definitely helps with not having to stop as often on those long trips. For now only Tesla owners will continue to have total access to the Tesla charging network and at the same time the Public Network which hopefully will get their act together.
