My dad was a Semi Truck driver. He use to keep tools, grease, and that sort of thing in the side boxes. That frunk is probably large enough to carry a spare tire and maybe even a jack in it as well. Could be super handy space for a Semi Truck Driver. Calling the roadside support for Semi's is much more expensive than for cars.

You do realize you don't have to take the wheel off to fix the tire? You can knock the tire off the bead with a sledge hammer and pry it off with a long pry bar. It's actually a lot faster than you'd probably think.
@danieldenney58472 жыл бұрын
Back to the main point of my comment. It can be used for tools and spare parts on the truck. Sometimes just having a tire with you for someone else to put on could be beneficial. What if the repair truck ran out of tires or didn't carry a specific one? Mayne you have specific needs. Let's not over think it though. It could be very beneficial to carry a spare tire.

Many European countries have taxes for these purposes, but they’re not high enough, particularly for the burning it portion. RPC: Remote Procedure Call. When a computer program in one location calls a subroutine in another location. Efficient for number of lines of code but inefficient in execution if the subroutine is in/on another continent or datacenter or server.
@fdelacou2 жыл бұрын
I don't think that one RPC itself is a problem but the multiple calls have a tendency to create a lot of overhead with the same information repeated multiple times. It is usually better to reduce the number of calls, even if you are carrying more data in each response.
@marvinegreen2 жыл бұрын
@@fdelacou You are right of course. Twitter was designed from the outset to facilitate very brief and succinct messaging. This type of design would call for minimalism in (probably) C++ with RPC routines cached locally. If Twitter is made to look and behave morel like KZbin then there will have to be some redesigning to accommodate longer more complex rendering of content. Excessive RPC calls may have been appropriate initially but no longer mesh with Elon's future plans for Twitter.
@HenryLoenwind2 жыл бұрын
@@fdelacou One common design error with RPC I've seen quite often is that those are designed like local function calls. So few parameters and a single return value. This is just natural, as the whole narrative about RPC is that it IS just like a local function call. A nice idea in theory, but in practice the overhead added by the "remote" part matters. They probably have one RPC to get the date of a tweet, one to get the username of the tweeter and one to get the body of the tweet (if not from the app to the server then server-side between microservices). That's a perfectly valid design---at university. ;)
@fdelacou2 жыл бұрын

Watching that robot arm with the deep fryer just makes me think that a robot ARM is not the right answer but a redesigned automated deep fryer like those semi automatic mini donut machines would be FAR better.
@HenryLoenwind2 жыл бұрын
In general that's true, but there are a number of caveats: - This is a retrofit system, not one for new installations. - The fryer needs a backup, so you'd need to install two independent fully-automatic fryers (or one and a normal station). The arm can just be switched off and a human can take over. - The arm has fewer parts that can break as all of them are on the arm and are shared between all motorised functions. An automated fryer would have actuators (either with their own motor or with clutches from a shared motor) for every single function---or be an "arm in a cupboard" anyway. And BTW, those donut-line fryers are not usable in a restaurant. They need independent basins for different foods, not one long shared basin for everything. And line fryers take up as much space as 4-6 basins. Space that's always at a premium. PS: Also, the arm is just "stage 1" of their product development. They are working on having the same arm take over other stations as well. And having one machine that can handle any station is better than designing and producing 6 or 10 different machines...

@@HenryLoenwind If you look at all the varied insulins some of them are over $1700.00 per vial in the us, I am assuming that most people can use a less costly variant. The least expensive is about $65 per vial and some people can probably get by using it, but most people are probably in the middle somewhere closer to $275 per vial. The point is not to argue about whether or not we payed 275 or 100, it is the fact that in this one country we pay astronomically more than anywhere else for the same treatments. in 2018 it costs $2.75 in Turkey for an insulin treatment it costed $98.00 in the US for the same treatment. that is the problem we are wasting hundreds of billions of dollars every year and allowing people to die and go bankrupt just to make more profits for a company that already makes huge profits.
