What about RZ? If you were going to downgrade to a Y, and I think the Y is a downgrade from an RX in terms of being a car, then you were considering an all-electric. The RZ is that. Of course, you'd have to wait for it and it would be a first-gen model.

I have the Lexus GX470 and Tesla Model 3 Performance. I also have a Porsche 911 S and BMW M3. The Tesla gets driven the most but is not the most fun to drive. In terms of interior, I would rank the Tesla last. In terms of speed the Tesla is the fastest. Young people today seem to gravitate towards having a Tesla as their dream car. I find that really odd.

If Tesla cars were as well built as a Lexus, I might be interested, but these cars are hastily built with cheap materials. The customer service is awful. By the way, Lexus will be coming up with 100% electric models very soon.

I just bought a Lexus RX450h+. It has 37 miles of EV and gas tank that takes 14 gallons of gas which gives 500 miles that I rarely use. My daily commute to and from work is about 10 mikes. Charging the battery is about 2 hours and 40 minutes on my home level 2 charger. The car has 304hp. The interior outclass any Tesla model by far. The technology on the RX 450h+ is almost at per with Tesla. And the resale value of Lexus is far better than that of Tesla. Tesla is over hyped.

I agree and this is the struggle I have been dealing with for the last year while considering switching from the luxury European and Asian cars to Tesla. I find Tesla is really interesting and different to try out, but the quality and customer experience is a constant concern. After owning over 50 different ICE cars, maybe it is time for a change. We will have to see which way I jump in the next month or two.

What did you end up choosing? And why?
@PhilT9933 жыл бұрын
@@JR-jz7mt Hi, I ended up buying a new 2021Tesla Model 3 Long Range and took delivery on December 26. I am very much enjoying the Tesla experience. I decided in the end that I really wanted to try something new, so an EV was the way to go. Having owned many Expensive cars , I wanted to get away from the expensive service that goes along with them. Most new cars even have required warranty service at certain intervals that can run into thousands over the first 5 years of ownership. Tesla has none. Living in a salty winter climate in Canada, I do clean my brake calipers each Spring, which I do myself. Hybrids, or plug-in hybrids don't appeal to me as they are only able to travel very short distances on their batteries and, I believe, may be subject to even more maintenance on their complex drive systems. You still have all the regular maintenance on the gas engine with the whole electrical system added on top. I chose Tesla over other high-end EVs because of their efficiency, performance and their dedicated Supercharging network which makes long distance completely effortless. I think Tesla's 10 year head start in the EV industry gives them a huge head start with their knowledge and technology. I looked very hard and could not find a better choice in that price range. There are a lot of new EV's hitting the market this year and I like to keep informed on the other guys.

I know millennials and even younger people that don't like Teslas. They like Hyundai, Kia, Honda and such. I'm not sure Tesla is a status symbol anymore since they're so ubiquitous. They have a following and such, but luxury? Lexus is refinement. Mercedes. Audi. Porsche. You can find clean designs (minimalistic) now from Polestar. But even minimalism has fine small details. And I'm not bashing Tesla. Just the overhype around them. Tesla is doing some great things and the Y, for instance, has really excellent space utility and efficiency. My problem is as a car the Y has a harsh ride. And it isn't like I don't like a firm ride. I do. The Y is firm and harsh and busy, not refined firm. The body structure, the control at speed, a lot of car refinement qualities are just average on Teslas. My thoughts are Tesla needs to work on car refinement while others need to work on tech/software and spend more time making the cars rather than speeding them through the assembly process. In time, others will start to offer EVs at scale and the shine will be off of Tesla and perhaps on to other brands. They need to improve for their own sake regardless of their growth and popularity now.

Thanks for watching! Depending on where you live and how cold it gets, the range on the Tesla will drop significantly if it is extremely cold. The RX450h is a great vehicle and range anxiety is non existent. If it’s your only car, I would do the Lexus. If you have another car, then you can get the Tesla if you want the full EV experience. For me, I don’t like to revolve my schedule or directions around the charging stations placements. I also don’t want to be stuck in a predicament if an emergency comes up. Good luck on deciding!

Tesla is obviously NOT a luxury automobile. Its body designs are plain vanilla. Their interiors are spartan at best. Their fit and finish leave much to be desired. The ergonomics interface with the driver are tacky at best. I'm a big fan of electric vehicles, but Teslas are grossly over-priced and over-hyped.

That comparison is weak and way too often used. Both a Tesla and a Lexus are cars with a similar format but a different propulsion system. It's more like a steam train vs. an electric one. Phones and cars are much different types of products. All car makers are computerizing their cars and tech goes beyond what Tesla shows. Great tech is transparent, why a car will glide over bumps and dips because of software controlling its suspension that the user doesn't even see, but experiences. Not all tech is through a screen.
