Smart Summon in the U.S. is so much better, the EU just has such stupid restrictions. You can't even let it drive to you, what's the point? Regular summon makes sense, but smart? We gonna need some changes for the UK.

Would be nice if it would work at all. As per video, even sitting in the car it is crap.

Honestly I haven’t seen many good examples even in the US that isn’t in some super setup or favorable scenario… the distance part makes it 100% useless but even say in the car it can’t figure it out. Such a shame.

We recently got a Model Y with enhanced autopilot and one of the reasons behind that upgrade is my disabled partner. Figured the advertised summon, smart summon and autopark would make life easier - none of it works on vision cars. Also my fault for not checking what those features would even do in the UK, the distance limitations mean I could at least walk the car when I take the dog out? Navigate on autopilot is useful though so I'm still happy with the enhanced autopilot overall. I love the Model Y but it's definitely been a let down in terms of feature set, at least if you go by what Tesla claim versus reality. Keep up the great content! Edit: Should have added that the new 'high fidelity park assist' that rolled out to vision cars has been a big improvement over the wiggly lines of doom we had before. I've been more confident parking the car in tight spaces since the update, just having the object persistence in the display makes it far more usable. Not as good as sensors, but closer.

All EAP functions should be in basic AP at this point. It’s not worth the £3500 extra and a lot of the competition have things like auto park as standard

Atm tesla slaps EAP on used certified cars sold on its website so it is unlikely tesla to remove such marketing tool as EAP.

I’m in france and my autopilot can’t even get round a corner at 50mph without ending up on the wrong side of the road and often bugs out. Is it the same in the uk or is this another EU fail?

I believe this is stipulated by the eu. Legislators need to catch up with the technology. In the usa they are using fsd with neural nets, which is superb. In Europe we are still using c++ coded autopiot/fsd. Hopefully it will be in Europe next year and you'll see a massive improvement.

The largest problem I have with "smart" summon is how stupid the routing it choses. Going forward and backward many times taking detours, running out of "maximum distance" rather than go straight for it. I would love to have some options for steering with normal summon. Because straight line isn't always good. Would also love to have option to drive and steer the car like normal summon, with trailer. Would be great to be able to stand otside with better view while reversing with trailer, rather than having an extra person telling me where to go. I want to be that person just telling the car where to go.

Given GPS is only accurate to within 1 to 2 meters, and GPS is part of how it know where you are on the map, this Smart Summon is useless if only within 6 feet, which is just under 1.8 meters in metric. Standard forward/back is good to get the car out of a tight car park, but the smart summon is useless with restrictions on it.

What gets me is the UK Brexited to escape the shackles of the EU, but we still have to abide all their silly rules, but have none of the benefits, so we’ve gained nothing. I can’t help thinking that TESLA is being stopped from implementing improvements to FSD in Europe to protect the German car manufacturers from competition, not that it’s really working with the Tesla model Y still being the best selling car in Europe.

Normal summon: i wish tesla make it so it only need bluetooth of the phone and no internet connection. so it work also on contested network and underground parking spaces. that way tesla would remain the EU law distance and make sure it works flaweless everytime. sadly tesla doesnt do it yet. Please elaborate, smart summon and summon is used only via your phone so I’m not sure what you are talking about?? If your talking about normal auto park then yes you don’t use your phone for that (I’m not showing that in this video this is only about summon) but under the smart summon information it says it can park itself via smart summon aswell as un-park. Which instructions are you talking about or link me the KZbin video that your talking about but I’m pretty sure your confusing standard auto park with smart summon 👍🏽

Is it fair to say that it is the EU's fault? On this demonstration Tesla should withdraw the feature from the EU market because even though it is being asked to do something less complicated than the original feature it is not even close. If Tesla think this standard of feature is acceptable then it is not surprising that the EU have restricted its use.
@TeslaDriver
@TeslaDriver 10 ай бұрын
Yes and no… the most simple feature of going back and forth for example should work every time flawlessly as it’s very simple but sadly even that is 50/50 whether it will work properly. Like in the demonstration at the end of the video where it hits a curb and continues to reverse a few seconds after I have let go of the button. But the restrictions to distance is defo the regulators fault, however they seem to have done it for the correct reason as when I use the feature even in the vehicle it isn’t able to do the most simple of task…
@martincday007
@martincday007 10 ай бұрын
@@TeslaDriver "Restriction to distance is defo the regulators fault" but the regulators need to be convinced something is safe before they allow it. I have never seen the summoned feature work flawlessly in the UK or US it is experimental. It has been promising rather than good and "promising" should not acceptable on public roads. The regulators don't have an interest in the car manufactures testing their wares out on the public road so therefore will and should restrict them until they can be convinced that they are safe. In this case they seem to be correct because any manufacturer should be ashamed of releasing this system and charging for it because it clearly does not work. If it is "because" of them having to use blutooth, or the the regulations that is no excuse. I am impressed at the advances that have been made in autonomous driving, but they are still nowhere near level 3 let alone level 5. It's lack of ability to adjust for snow and ice for example. If they keep developing they will get there but probably not for another couple of years. In the meantime regulations ensure the safety of non-Tesla customers who are not signed up members of the experiment. It is not much different to the drone regulations where unless there is line of sight a special license is required. Maybe try combining a drone with the summon feature, and have the drone guide the car? It is strange though that the summon feature works so poorly as is it not just a by-product of the self-driving, the same thing but with the driver outside the vehicle?
