I was just at our local grocery store here in the Tampa Bay area where many customers were stocking up for the coming hurricane Helene. I successfully got the car to come to me three times through much traffic and pedestrians. As the car came the last time, the store manager approached and told me that several people had come in and complained that the driverless car seemed dangerous. He asked me to stop. I told him how it works and that I could stop it immediately by lifting my finger. What he and the customers don't understand is that the car is far safer than the other cars with live drivers. @6:40 2024.27.25 update might have something to do with the back-up blindspot deletion. The UI menu now has a user-editable blind-spot distance buffer. That may prevent first-time confusion/panic at the previous back-up at start-up maneuver.

@moonashaАй бұрын
I used to doubt whether FSD would ever actually be a thing, but seeing the car navigate these chaotic parking lots, where the most accidents happen of any driving, gives me a ton of confidence that they're gonna pull it off.

The public roads thing is the big limitation I’ve seen so far in my tests. My car pulled out of a spot and began moving forward beautifully, then decided I was on public property and aborted, blocking cars in the parking lot. I was technically about half a mile from public property, but either way some indication of where it does work on the map would be very beneficial!
@MH-TeslaАй бұрын
Yup. When I tested it, it kept stopping for that reason with no roads in site. I can't trust it yet to pick me up if it might stop and block cars until I get to it. Hopefully that's fixed soon.

This is brilliant if so. Very clever thought. So it knows what was there when it parked and tracks if anything shows up. I love it and hope you are right because that is very clever. Smart.
@JohnVanderbeckАй бұрын
This is what I was thinking as well. No need to back up if you have tracked the state around you since you stopped.
@RealBenAndersonАй бұрын
The real question is: Is it now useful enough that you will consider using it in a real-life scenario when you aren't filming and just want it to come get you (e.g. it is pouring down rain and you don't want to walk all the way out to it)? That is what is needed for this to graduate from party trick to actual marketable feature.
@darenk820228 күн бұрын
I tried this at a busy Costco carpark last night (after trying it in a less busy lot). It worked flawlessly. My only concern is if someone hits the car, even if the Tesla is not at fault, the police/insurance may still blame me for not being in the driver seat. It sounds like a possible gray area.
@johny1220Ай бұрын
1:50 holy shit that’s SUCH a big improvement. Excellent video as always. I used summon at a local casino. The car was approximately 180 feet away parked head in. Once backed out of the parking space it had a straight line to where I was standing. Between the car and myself there was a exit/entrance road it had to cross over. Car backed out fine and head towards me, then the left turn signal came on and the car turned onto the exit/entrance path to go out onto the main highway. I stopped it and ran like hell to the car because it was now blocking cars coming in and cars going out. One person was shouting expletives that I could not mention here. I can imagine if Elon Musk was there he would be saying "Thanks for playin' Cecil."

That being said, I DID have an interesting experience where the car didn't pull up to be, but rather pulled straight into the nearest parking spot to where I was, which was interesting.

Tesla is so underpriced is incredible. It’s just amazing how everything just works from the superchargers, car durability, to FSD and technology. I’m waiting a dip in the stock to buy and hold 10yrs

7:30 I’ve noted in many videos the rear fog lights switch on at night when using ASS. I guess this is a strategy to improve lighting up the surroundings out back to improve safety when reversing. Actually smart! 😂

ASSes were handed to me after we’re synchronized to the same version on both our Teslas. 🙌
