Your video is very informative. One question, does the manual say how to recalibrate it?
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
Nope but then again user manuals don't tell you how to recalibrate a multi meter either.

I’m tempted to buy one of these toys for myself. Can be very useful and reasonably inexpensive.

Well it worked :-D I wonder if it would work with switching power supply transformers to show it was working without getting too close. It will detect mains wires in the wall, to stop a screw hitting the wiring. Im sure there are more uses.

used to find hidden surveilance bugs possibly?

Yes. It found the transmitter in that clock camera. It's a very low power 902mhz FM transmitter

Really cool!! Does it say what it bases it's perception of relative safety on?

would be interesting to "see" the surroundings in different wavelengths and might be useful for searching for noise sources. like you said in the day time there is a huge powerful source of radiation right over head.
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
We had a very expensive microwave radiation probe back at the shop as the early microwave ovens had gaskets that could break down and doors that pulled down like a conventional oven and people would damage the door, so every oven had to be tested and certified. It used a 5cm Styrofoam spacer as the measurement was done 5cm away. We rarely saw any deflection on the meter, but take that probe outside and point at the nuclear furnace and off the scale it went.

Unrelated - Salvation Army just declined my old inkjet printer. Should i salvage for parts? Have you ever? Maybe a future video from our "Master Spark Chaser?
@randymoyer53518 ай бұрын
See if Goodwill will take it, or a Community Center might. Or if theres any Recycling places take it there.
@12voltvids8 ай бұрын
Nobody wants old inkjet printers. Why? Because the ink cartridges if you can still buy them cost more then a new printer. I have a beautiful old cabin 9900 that prints large photos. Can't get the ink anymore except from hoarders that want 30 per cartridge on eBay and it takes 8. They used to be 6 bucks each.

Great gadjet to have on the bench, my only RF detector is when someone idiot passes by with a with a CB or what ever the audio comes blasting through my speakers , possibly an amplifier , phono input under test with the gain wide open that's picking it up. Just saying, some apps for cellphones can access their sensors.
@tacofortgens34718 ай бұрын
You have to be very very close , to be even picking it up.
