Thomas Hardy shows an image of Victorian age. Where a man always get free from his mistakes but woman bullied. If a woman do something bad even unknowingly then could be criticized but man always stays good ,clean and honest even if he do anything bad knowingly. In this novel Thomas shows us an innocent character of Tess who always do struggle for her family's survival. After her father illness. Thomas Hardy somehow spend his life in poverty. And thats the main reason he shows fate strongly as compared to a person's power or efforts. He described Nature which always get cruelest on him. He represented Role of Chance according to his philosophy. He portrayed a big Tragedy what a human face in his life. He always presented female characters beautifully. He showed sufferings of a woman.
