You can go back and Google the deductions and what they were for. Judges have to be able to defend their scoring. It isn't just arbitrary. I am not going to rewatch the whole thing and point out every place they received a deduction. I will just note they didn't challenge any of them.
@Maya-xn3wj4 жыл бұрын
@@marykuettner752 Lol, this non-answer. First of all, you know that figure skating is a sport extremely prone to fed influence messing with the scoring, right? The biggest feds in fs are USFSA and Rusfed, and they will politick like crazy for their often average skaters which is why Sochi was a certified mess in both the ID and ladies event. How does it become apparent? Speaking of the technical side, GOEs are inflated beyond good and evil, flat edges are overlooked, levels are gifted. The second mark, the program components, is boosted as well (happened here and also happened with Adelina Sotnikova in the ladies event). We'd be lucky if the judges actually had to "defend" their scoring but the ISU has no mechanisms in place for that (aside from the round table sessions behind closed doors after each comp - how very transparent). How about some examples: First, the most obvious difference between V/M and D/W in the sd might be the non-touch midline step sequence right at the beginning, an element at which V/M always excel: They’re fast, they have beautiful and big curves, clean and deep edges. D/W pale in comparison, their curves are smaller and Meryl especially has wobbly and unclear edges in her rockers in that NtMiSt. And yet, D/W still beat V/M on that element, receiving +3 GOE, while V/M only got 2.43 GOE. Second, V/M didn’t beat D/W in one SINGLE program component and it’s especially baffling that they didn’t receive higher skating skills when they so very obviously have deep and controlled edges, are able to point their feet (unlike D/W), generate speed with their edges (D/W often run on the ice to do so) . IMO their sd is also a choreographic masterpiece with a ton of memorable moments whereas I struggle to remember anything picturesque from D/W’s my fair lady. Third, the judges didn’t give Scott a key point in the finn step which he should have received and also didn’t call some of Meryl’s flat edges. For more I strongly recommend googling Kaley’s elaborate and highly informative tumblr posts about the scoring mess that was ID in Sochi (e.g. google search “illyria and her pet finnstep tumblr” and you’ll find it).

Yes. I feel the same way. D/W had great skills and incredibly consistent and had some wonderful fast paced and acrobatic programs. They were fantastic. And I love P/C too. They move like a dream - with exceptional skill. And P/C are already considered the best ice dancers for many many people, but I love my V/M. Their programs were so exciting or joyful. They rarely looked like they are doing any work but had the skills to back it up. And their chemistry - like I’ve never seen before. Something about the way they touched each other, or looked at each other, or the way they seemed to connect with each other.

These two are the OTP of ice skating couples.. I've yet to see another couple have this level of chemistry, fire, talent, cohesiveness, synchronization, flare and everything it takes to make routines like these not just work but special and memorable.. my only regret is never having been able to watch these routines, bar the last Olympics, the day of competition due to time zones and never getting to see them in person.. They are unmatched and will be missed this year but I am so thankful that we have videos like this to remember them by, and that we were lucky enough to witness their talent for as long as we all could.. Thank You Tessa and Scott!!!

They have a problem. They're so talented that they actually make it look too easy. When you watch the same videos of them and most of their competitors a half a dozen times each in succession, the talent of all these dancers is amazing, but Tessa and Scott have incredible raw talent in amazing amounts.

These two are always such a pure joy to watch! They always know precisely where the other is on the ice, exactly what the other is doing at any given moment. They trust their skates, the ice, and each other and it shows in how creative they can be in their dances, from ballroom-inspired to jitterbug.

The best way to describe this is magic. Their chemistry can’t be matched. Like the way their bodies move with each other is blissfully perfect. I feel emotional everytime i watch them skate because it feels real. They made love and connection in the way they skate- you can’t teach that.

@wilhelmina88437 ай бұрын
So glad other people notice and appreciate this! It amazed me the detail of their skating sometime. He's literally doing a very difficult sit spin while she's in a split position and yet they are looking at each other and he is usually stroking her face or brushing her hair aside tenderly. I've watched their programs so many times that I notice these little caresses in so many of their programs back from when they were young.

I am new to watching ice skating, so I was absolutely mesmerized watching Scott and Tessa's past performances. I could sit on utube and watch them hour after hour...I actually have tears of admiration and awe watching their ice dancing performances! They taught me so much about working together as a couple in perfect unison and their devotion and loving kindness toward each other. I've never seen such loyalty and deep feeling in ice-skating performances as they have. I wonder what they are doing and how they are?

Also, Moulin Rouge should have been 1st as well in individual, don't understand how it came 2nd, but happy they won Edit: Also want to mention how VERSATILE they were!
