@Arhetype1
@Arhetype1 4 жыл бұрын
I think,i hope i am not wrong about this,he uses low B instead of normal 4 string bass with E on top.So in this case Low B is tuned to Ab, E to F, A to Bb , and D to Eb.Since no need for G string at all,and instead of using 5 string for that low B, Kiesel made 4 string with Low B. Must say hell of a job.

Awesome stuff man! Any insight into your switch from the single humbucker on the Vader to the MM/J configuration? I have been thinking about ordering a custom from Kiesel, just trying to iron out some of the fine details like pickup configuration, etc.
@snail415
@snail415 6 жыл бұрын
I have an MTD Kingston Heir 5 fitted with Lakland MM/J pickups and preamp. I know it's not a 1-for-1 comparison, but I can tell you that the position of those two pickups give you a lot more flexibility. The 'sweet spot' MM (IMO) is great, but esp with pickups like Bartolinis (which Kiesel contracts for their pups) you're probably gonna do more post-processing than you want. The MM closer to the bridge gives you a lot of focused and linear midrange, while the J brings-out the 80-120hz range without you having to do much coloring in the signal chain. And, if you get a dual-coil J pickup you'll never have to deal with hum. Hope that helps a bit. As an aside- if you don't like Kiesel pickups, pay super-close attention to pickup dimensions so you're not disappointed with your replacement options. My 5-string MTD required a FOUR-string J pickup!
