Thanks for doing this! Very perceptive, and you've actually defined our goals for the character and niche of this airbrush really well. Of course, very interested in your views on the 0.45mm as well when you get a moment :-) - all the best, Warrick.

Thanks Warrick! I have some small pangs of regret not grabbing the 2 in one. But I am sure I will pick up a .45 setup when they are available! Very happy with the new nozzle and head setup. As someone who has a "lot" of different airbrushes. And who has noticeably not kept an H&S airbrush on my shelf. This changes things! Great work on these!

I think you will love the new Evo. Since I know you like a really soft low air speed. Its a very very beautifully precise and soft spray. Its very ironic those paintings In the background are just on foam core board. Simple quick fun paintings I chose to hang in the studio. with hundreds of pieces of art I can hang I really like the playful colorful stuff hanging in here. I actually painted those and pac man neon just for these spots on the wall. Thanks so much!

im searching for a .45 head and nozzle now. In hindsight I should have bought the 2in1 As soon as I can get the larger setup ill definitely update. Im definitely on board with the changes they have made. And I clearly have wayyy too many airbrushes but ill be looking when the infinity comes along upgraded

Great, insightful, open, honest review. I kinda guessed that the Evolution CRP 2024 was the new Infinity in many ways. The 2024 Infinity and alloy versions of both will be the ones Ill look out for. Im happy with the three H&S I have (with the trigger hacks), I run Paasche and Sparmax too - but H&S are so easy to live with and are my go to more and more.✌️👍💜😊

Im not a fan of the alloys.. As a fact i prefer my airbrushes to have a little heft. No particular reason why.. i just like the feel of a little weight. But definitely this is a huge jump honestly from the old evo. Which as I keep mentioning until now.. i did not have a single h&S airbrush in my collection. Now im looking for the .45 setup for this one. Gonna hang on to this a while!

Nice one Bill! Thanks for pointing out the delay on this brush! My ex infinity had it. But didn’t noticed the delay till I got my Iwata kustom ch and other brushes. The main reason I got rid of mine was not the delay, but the inconsistency on the spray pattern. Wow if you’re saying this far better than the older infinity version😮 can’t wait to see what the newer infinity version will be like. thanks on another great review!

yeah ive not been on the h&s train. some might notice this is the first h&s ive done a review on.. because until now I had no desire to own one.. having used them on a few occasions I was underwhelmed. The new head is a definite upgrade. And after a couple days of getting used to the air valve.. i wound up liking the trigger. Im still going to be using my eclipse and my 270 more than my other airbrushes. But I can say this definitely gives incredibly clean lines. And is very smooth. Anyone who uses an h&S and converts to the new head (when available) will be very happy. Ive got a ridiculous amount of various airbrushes again... But i got more coming ::)

I bought the .28 and .45 combo. The tip of the .45 needle is different. It is more blunt. I am a beginner, but to me the .28 felt much more precise. And I was amazed about the amount of paint that came out of the .28 already. The .45 felt almost like a spray can, so much came out of it 🤣. But off course with the precision of an airbrush. My old “expensive “ Chinese airbrush is pathetic compared to the H&S. It feels broken now 🤣

Reducer is thinner for your paint. in some cases with water based that could simply be water, although I prefer reducers made for the paint im using. I use mostly createx products. So I am using their reducers.

They already stated the the new nozzle will would with think paints. Harder & Steenbeck are slow. They stated the new Infinity 2024 be out in April this year then they said first half of this year. Now I am hearing the second half of this year.

Would you recommend this for miniature painting? I'm mostly looking to lay down layers on armor and tanks but I'm a total amateur here. I bought a cheap brush and compressor but I'm creating clouds of paint everywhere because I think the pressure is too high.

If you were to go this way go with the larger nozzle or the 2 in one. The ultra is also a little cheaper and is a .4 which is a great option for miniatures.

Great video. Model cars would u suggest the eclipse instead?
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 5 ай бұрын
i think it will come to personal preference, but if I were doing model cars with the evolution you would want the .4 which will lay out a lot more paint and be even better for thicker paints. The eclipse is without question my favorite all around airbrush. So im a bit biased, and try hard not to be. So almost always when people ask im tempted to say the eclipse. But for modeling its going to be a wash if using the .4 on the evo. For me personally, i'm picking the eclipse if those were my choices. But ive said 1000000 times. If i could only have one airbrush, the eclipse would be the one I keep.

Hello, thank you for the presentation video. A question that may come up often, but I want to start airbrushing, can I buy this one directly in order to learn on a very good equipment directly or is it better to start with the H&S Ultra 2024? Thanks
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 6 ай бұрын
If you go with the evo opt for the .45 I haven't been able to test the new ultra yet. But the forcing you to air on before you pull back could be beneficial. So its a tough call. I do think there will be some value in learning good trigger discipline that way. While im often inclined if the budget is there to opt for the better brush. The ultra is going to be really high quality from the get go anyway. And down the road you could add an infinity or evolution head. The trigger I suspect wont be as smooth And it will be way less than a 2 in one evolution in cost. AFAIK you cant source a solo in a .4 as of this moment (im sure you will be able to in the future but stock is limited right now) If you are brand new to airbrushing.. i say jump on the ultra. It will help learn trigger control. And has a very forgiving .45 nozzle. By all means no-one should start out with an airbrush designed for super detail work. you wont be able to achieve the details and they will clog up more often until you get a handle on how to reduce and treat them.

So if I properly thin my paints, if I already have a "heavy duty" airbrush for thicker paints and if I plan to do detail work with it, I can easily pick this one over an Iwata Eclipse? I feel myself torn between these two, but I do prefer H&S for their modular system and head assembly. But this wouldnt help with performance beyond motivational factors :D
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 6 ай бұрын
i would strongly suggest getting the two in one either way versus the solo. And its important to keep in mind.. they are different. In my case ive used an eclipse for years. its going to be very comfortable and feel right to me. The H&S took some adjusting But it can absolutely spray super smooth tiny soft gradients that the eclipse will struggle with.. For fine lines if you have good trigger control both will perform well. But for making those small gradients this will give those soft gradients at a very small size much nicer. That might not answer your question directly unfortunately. Because both are excellent airbrushes. But they are signifcantly different from each other. No question h&s are the easiest to maintain. The eclipse will be a bit more durable. The needle is a slightly dual taper at the end making it more robust.

Well made gun for sure but these are basically general purpose guns with no technology when it comes to atomization. I have 4 different iwata's and even my hp-c from the 80's will spray under 20 psi and give way better atomization than this. Then the eclipse with its multi hole head design is even more efficient. The thing is. Nothing has better consistency with the trigger, where you pull back and get the same line everytime. You can do the test like this but in reality these guns will not be as user friendly. Again very well made. I had the infinity and it was really nice, but it needed way more air to atomize. These are NOT detail airbrushes. And, you cannot spray thick paint through any detail gun and get good results because they are not designed for that. The iwata eclipse is by far a better gun to paint with. If you think this will beat the eclipse than your using it wrong and not thinning your paint correctly. Createx illustration should be reduced 10 drops reducer to 1 drop paint @ 20 psi. Try it and see for yourself. I've been using aibrushes since 1988 and paint reduction is key to performance. My eclipse sprays almost as fine as my custom micron. Finer if you consider the Eclipse has a .35 and the micron has a .18
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 6 күн бұрын
Ill address a couple things. First everyone is entitled to their opinions. The eclipse multi hole head design.. i saw you mention this in another persons channel as well... Its not unique to iwata... or the eclipse. And the list or airbrushes would be far too numerous to list here. The eclipse has been my favorite airbrush for many years . Conflating fine lines and soft gradients is a common misconception. the eclipse will run a fine line about as small as anything else. Fine lines are merely one standard. And if your using a detail brush for fine line capability over another airbrush.. Then you are using detail airbrushes wrong. Micro gradients are where detail airbrushes shine, and the eclipse wont come close to the soft gentle low air pressure atomization of the micron. Lets not get all twisted, i've used an eclipse on things as small as a razor blade, and it is suprisingly capable of painting pretty tiny.. but there is a clear difference. And as for reducing 10-1, those extreme reductions should be left to very micro details. In particular circumstances. And should be done with the knowledge you are making the paint less durable. Durability of paint being affected with upper end reductions like that is easily provable. Both by seeing what the paint manufacturers say. And secondly doing an astm cross hatch test. Createx illustration will spray straight out of the bottle through most brushes, Heck the createx airbrush colors transparents will spray out of a .2 unreduced now (not back in 88) And now with the 21 reducer there is almost zero need to reduce that high, if you need those reductions to get a lighter coverage you are simply doing something wrong.

@@TheAIRspace I don't mean to sound like a jerk. You obviously know what you are doing. But I have been airbrushing since 1988 and i am an auto painter for 28 yrs. I know a thing or two about atomization. Iwata is the king of that. Does the new h&s have a single hole head like the infinity ? My point is, pound for pound. Nothing atomizes as good as iwata. What is happening with iwata is, the air is being converted from inlet to outlet much more effectively. So lower pressure can be used. I am really just talking about for detail since that is what you and every other channel goes to show how good or bad these guns are. Again i am not a jerk even though i sound like it. I actually helped design the takumi for iwata in 2016. That was my idea. So i do know what i am saying. I could have submitted the takumi design to anyone but i didn't because in my opinion iwata was the only company that deserved it.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 6 күн бұрын
@@frankartale1026 first you and I both know where the micron head design originated. I really should get the larger nozzle for the H&S because the .45 might spray entirely different. I have zero interest in pushing one brand over any other. And when i review multiple brands and designs of airbrushes mostly at my own expense, i aim to give every brush a fair and as unbiased review as I can. With that said i have favorites. Many people know that. the Eclipse being absolutely my favorite airbrush. It does everything well, but not everything the best. As for atomization of paint, i think the creos ps 289 will atomize better than the eclipse. And the 270 at .2 is ridiculously good at under 100 bucks. And the 771 is really up there with the cmc+. I wouldn't say the patriot with its 6 hole design atomizes better than the eclipse at low pressure.. well i mean i KNOW it doesn't. But it will throw out paint better for large coverage. But those differences are mostly due to nozzle protrusion and needle design. (some would argue the super fine detail setup is better than the eclipse) Iwata is without question a top tier manufacturer. They excel at quality control. the eclipse is a simple design they perfected and manufacture to the highest standards. And that's what makes it great. But the H&S evolution 2024 has its own merits. Its different very different than Iwata (even though iwata owns the company now) in the .28 variety which was the only one I have its a great detail brush. with an entirely different head design than iwata. It does not require a nozzle and air cap like the eclipse. But you can correct me if i'm wrong since I don't have a high performance plus to look at here.. But is it not just a single air hole Feeding behind the nozzle allowing the air to flow over the nozzle and out the aircap I don't mean to sound like a jerk either. we just simply disagree on some things, and that's all perfectly acceptable.

I should add. Airbrush nozzle sizes in a perfect world should measure at the diameter stated. However taper angle of the needle is what changes characteristics from one .3 to another .3 for instance. However some manufacturer tolerances are pretty piss poor. And you can see significant differences from the same part . This is very clearly easy to measure with a pin guage. Iwata and H&S and GSI Creos have very consistent tight tolerances. Some manufacturers have a huge variation that is downright shameful. @jameswilliams3304
