I'm just starting with this method of "creation" as the word painting just doesn't cut it.... Still practicing my "daggers" and "learning" my 73 YO fingers to stay in sync with the brain commands :-) You do have an elevated skill level and as a personal type question, how long did it take to create this excellent eagle? Thank you for your presentation on the results that can be obtained with TONS of practice, practice, and more practice....

Solo una domanda Bill. I colori opachi (creayex airbrush color) si possono graffiare e cancellare? Se si con che cosa? con quai gomme a mano o elettriche? Grazie infinite
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 4 күн бұрын
The ability to erase or scratched is way more dependant on the binder used than the pigment. Also how thick you lay the paint has a dramatic affect. Very thin layers of paint erase much smoother and easier than thicker layers. I suspect when people tell me they have trouble erasing opaques is more a matter of using much thicker and complete covering layers.

depending on the color.. create some randomized light textures in a base layer then treat each "stripe" as an independant section.

i need your advice.... I'm looking for a compressor to spray my 36x36" projects with varnish and other topcoats. I was looking at the CAT 8 gallon for $210. I have a mini gun and LVLP as well. is this the best idea or could one of these do? I have a Silentaire and Badger for my smaller work
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 15 күн бұрын
which LVLP gun is it? And no this wont run any LVLP gun. The 8 gallon Cat will run the Iwata lph 80. And a few other smaller spray guns. 36x36 is a pretty large flat surface. If your talking varnish on canvas you can get away with a lot because the surface hides any irregularities. But if your needing an ultra smooth topcoat on a smooth surface It would be hard to get that much covered with the lph80 or smaller guns. But again if were talking canvas id have no issue using varnish out of the minigun on something that size.. I have done several 24x36 pieces with it.
@thunder2165
@thunder2165 15 күн бұрын
My usual project size is no bigger than 24x36” on ACM panel or MDF and as small as 12x24”. I have the Creos PS-290 as well. I’ve never varnished before and I need to. I would like to spray it rather then brush it on. I was leaning on getting the 8gallon CAT

I had a JET AIR compressor for 10 years and did not use it much, but the tank rusted out, and you can't get a replacement tank. So, to add to your thoughts, make sure you get one with a stainless tank for aluminum tank if you can.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 16 күн бұрын
not sure size and capacity of that compressor. But you can get replacement tanks. The question comes down to is it cost effective. If you can swing an aluminum tank thats great. there are not that many of them out there Definitely not in the very small compressor sizes.

@@TheAIRspace is a 1 gal. The tank is welded to the housing. I can take the pump and everything off and fit a new tank to it, but it will not fit in the case it comes in. Wow. My Grex is not even close to that gun. I have a heavy top and bottom and the bottom is not looking so good. The pattern looks like a barbell shape. This gun is sweet.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 17 күн бұрын
Dumbell shape spray patterns have 3 causes... Air pressure too high, fan pattern to wide or fluid volume too low. Since with these types of guns we cannot adjust the fan pattern, and presume we only turn up air high enough to achieve atomization.. It leaves us with one problem. Like MANY MANY spray pattern airbrushes. The grex suffers from the wrong type of needle for a spray gun type performance. Two things happen when the needle protrudes through the nozzle that are fighting against the entire purpose of a fan pattern. One your volume is partially blocked from the needle, even when fully retracted it is still choking off volume. Two as fluid follows the air as it closes in around the needle you are pulling the paint to a smaller diameter (which is why long tapered needles produce finer lines generally speaking) Of course THAT is at odds with spraying a wider pattern. Lower volume and room for pigments of course is at odds with spraying heavier paints .. like basecoating with pearls and such. Or heavy primers. Things you might be wanting to use a "large coverage" for. Of course when i mention those glaring defects people get touchy. With that all said, by far this gun has outperformed every other fan pattern airbrush i have tried. Even the gsi creos 290/ iwata wont compare if high volume coverage is what you are looking for. The TH2 and this are close... the TH atomizes a little finer perhaps. This has a slightly heavier coverage. FWIW i think the Tritium is massively overpriced.

A can at least confirm half of the argumentation. I have a low-end airbrush compressor with a 2 liter tank, supposed to deliver 23l/min, and it's not enough for what I do, mainly varnishing or big flats. E.G., I have just applied a patch of clear-coat on a car (7cm * 7cm), and at full throttle with a 0.5 needle, I can brush 10 seconds and have to wait 30 seconds before I get enough pressure again. So it may be good for detail paintings, were you never use full blow, but no more...

Being an admin on a large airbrush group, and around this hobby/industry for 10 ish years now, I have seen time and time again people in that same situation. I ALSO have a small tanked 25 lm compressor sitting on my table right now. Using it with a detail airbrush on a small scale painting. And it’s fine for that. But woefully unable to do what I do most. I recently reviewed another compressor for airbrushes that’s much more powerful. And I showed the difference in what each could handle. (I guess semi recently it was over 3 months ago).

typical aircompressors use 1/4 fittings, airbrush uses 1/8 fittings.. Your welcome... they actually sell a hose with 1/4 on one side and 1/8 on the other just for airbrushes (google: 1/4 inch to 8 in airbrush hose). The biggest scam on the market is those air compressors for airbrushes.. most dont have the flow for common airbrushes like a siphon (paint cup on bottom), I have an iawata that takes 40psi for its .35 tip just to do detail. The smallest I use is a .2 and the largest is a .7 fan tip. Gravity feed (paint cup on top) might get away with 18-20 for your basic uses with a .2 - .5 tips but that depends on how far away you need to be from your project with the gun and how thick your medium is. If you are just painting nails with a wetted out medium then sure, but if you ever wanna graduate then you are screwed. I got some basic acrylics that I paint with through a gravity feed .2 wetted out to the consistancy of milk and it can kick up to over 20 psi with normal use. some colors are lower some are higher. The typical psi out of one of those desktop air compressors you get on amazon for 60 bucks is about 35-40 psi but that is only if you use a reservoir tank. Plugged directly into it with no reserve air in a tank you will get maybe 20psi constant when using the gun. So you are right there at the minimum. I have a 7 gallon protable tank that I can plum my machine into and I can get most projects done with that no matter ho big it is. It is just a matter of carefully making sure I dont run my pressure down below by taking breaks for it to build up. I have this fortress ultra quiet in my setup and I dont need the reserve for that, even though it is only 1 gallon capacity the air compressor itself produces enough air to run even my fan tip .7 at full blast constantly. It is sort of mostly portable but the same could be said about my portable 7 gallon tank. so it is 6 in one and half a dozen in the other. The fortress has a pressure out regulator so that can be set to 60psi and then you run a hose to your workstation where you have another regulator you use to fine tune your pressure at the gun. You maintain the 125psi in the tank but only let out 60psi to the hose and bring it down to your required 18-40psi to your gun and use an inline mac valve from amazon to make adjustments if needed. SKip the inline mac valve if your gun has one. I set my pressure with distance from my work and use the mac valve to get closer for detail. easy peasy The difficult thing here is to find an air pressure regulator that is 0-60psi and not 0-150psi without breaking the bank. I dont like using the mac valves (micro air control) on my guns if I dont have to so I wanted an accurate and reliable air pressure regulator to be able to dial in an exact number. Most of the 1/4 cheap regulators are at 30psi just by cracking them open slightly so getting a fine tune with those is difficult without putting 2 of em in line and setting the first one to 60 and just leaving it there. The guage can be replaced on them, they are all 1/8 fittings from what I have seen but they arent really designed to be friendly at lower psi ranges! Getting a decent 0-60 digital psi regulator was prolly my best investment for repeatability and trouble shooting I have ever made. Those 0-150 regulators just have the lower end fine tune you need but you can make do until you start experimenting with different paints and mediums. inline mac valve with quick disconnect - www.amazon.com/dp/B002KDSRQY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I need glasses to read and it becomes an issue with changing air pressure when I am painting, I am tossing around the idea of getting an 1/8inch 3 way fitting, large print 0-60psi gauge, then adjusting the airpressure going into that 3 way fitting with that MAC valve I linked in the original post, so I pass through the air and measure its psi all at the same time.... I am almost confident that would work better that any other regulator out there. Everytime you step down or increase the inner diameter of your airflow you make changes to the pressure. so the closer you are to your work in the same "ID" the more accurate your reading will be.. Would be a whole lot cheaper too!

I need to find an audio processor that can normalize volume.. Audio has always been the hardest thing for me making videos. And ive mostly gotten better however its very difficult when volumes change a lot in a video. And weirdly audio when uploaded to youtube gets compressed again when there is background noise. Often when i preview the video it sounds one way.. then I upload and well its changed. Definitely thank you for the feedback and I will try and get better in the future. Summer is coming so I should hopefully get back to making videos. I realize i tend to be inconsistent with uploads. But of course youtube doesnt pay my bills so when time gets crunched YT unfortunately gets pushed to the back
