Mentioning custom wheels and tires brings back some memories. I worked at Super Shops from 85 to 90 over in Hermitage. Jim jr. used to come over with different cars and we would test fit tires and wheel combinations until he found something he liked. He was a good customer and a pleasure to do business with.

The Chrysler B- body platform was used on the Belvedere, Satellite, Road Runner, Charger, and Coronet. Same chassis, and suspension throughout, so they're basically all the same size and similar weight. Probably one of the finest chassis runs in muscle car history.

@@nwesterbeckmaster Definitely a takeaway from a performance aspect!! Personally, I love the 440.... What I have noticed many of the cars that pass through on this sits are missing their seatbelts. This 1968 is missing the lap belts and the shoulder belts. Why would someone deliberately remove the seat belts. Is this R/T worth 30 grand, a closer look would determine that. It would clearly be a good entry for a start of a driveable project.
@kqq49702 жыл бұрын
There weren't shoulder belts in 68
@ta392srtchallenger52 жыл бұрын
@@kqq4970 FACT: In 1968 - Seat Belts Become Nationally Mandated. FACT: The first federal law mandating all new cars be equipped with both lap and shoulder belts in the front seat is introduced. The three-point seat belt had been around for nearly a decade, the law did not specify the need for any particular design. As a result, many automakers installed separate lap and shoulder belts. Society of Automotive Engineers study at UCLA leads to calls for two-point seat belts, lap and shoulder. U.S. manufacturers provide lap belts at rear outboard positions, NHSB issues initial Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 208, 209, setting standards for lap and shoulder belts in front outboard positions, lap belts in all other positions (to take effect 1/1/68 and 3/67, respectively). The bottom line is many of the older vehicles that go through used car lots, have had headlines replaced. For whatever reason that person did not reinstall the shoulder harness or a previous owner took them out for no good reason. In some cases even the lap belts were removed. The vehicle in question in this case is a 1968 Dodge which was produced with lap and shoulder belts. Don't take my word for it, the information is available if you are inclined to look. Respectfully.

What? A 383 is a big block. Maybe you're thinking of a chevy?
@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism3 жыл бұрын
"The major difference between these two Mopar legends is the deck height of the block: 9.98-inch for the 383 and 10.725-inch for the 440. This disparity is what gives each engine its name, with the 383 (and its 350-, 361-, and 400-inch siblings) known as the low-deck B-series wedge and the 440 (and its 413- and 426-cube relatives) referred to as the raised-deck RB-series. And so it has been-ever since the 1966 arrival of the 440-383 owners have been stuck in a shadow some 57 cubes shy of the big 440."
