I just couldn't drive a "muscle car" with only 135 horsepower. Fuck the regulations of that era; they neutered so many great cars.

Thought the same then researched. The 302 was a base motor offered in 72. The 351 was an upgrade. A big one!

@markpro96 I don't doubt your research, but I never saw a Mach 1 from that year without a Cleveland. I certainly never saw a Mach 1 with a 2 barrel carb. Of course, I was only 16 at the time, so they may have slipped a few past me.

You’re definitely pulling at My heart strings with this one. 69 is of course My favorite, but this is a nice solid Mach 1 ! The idle circuit in the carb needs some attention for sure but that is nothing. That’s a nice one for sure! 👍👍🇺🇸Thanks Nick

In 1971 Ford completely redesigned the Mustang. You could still get a big block engine such as Boss 429 or Boss 351 as well as a 351 Cleveland. They were noticably larger cars than previous Mustsngs.

I'm a second Gen Nova (68-72) guy but these big body Mustang Fastbacks from this era just scream 70's. This body style is growing on me...definitely completely different vibe from the 67/68 and the 69/70 eras. Exhaust on this one is a little shaky...
