I just sold a 79 with 82,000 miles for $7,000 and everything worked including the horn. These stock 350s have a whopping 198 hp but they are fun to drive. I like the red on red. Mine was white with the oyster interior

I would take a 327 or the 350 and build it to around 500 + horsepower and plant it in this nice Vett. Still a awesome ride should sale fast.

and drop the rear gear ratio and put in overdrive trans be it an auto or manual. could really see fuel mileage jump up with those two things overdrive and lower gear ratio say if it was 4.10 or 3.73 drop to like 3.23 or 3.15 or such

53,807 built in 79 which was an incredible amount considering the somewhat antiquated St Louis assembly plant. That was by far the most St Louis ever built but 79 was a great year for all car sales not just Corvette. The Trans Am also had a record year with over 116,000 built.

They weren't complete slugs, the L82 would run pretty good especially the 4-speed which usually had 3.70 gears, even the automatic had a 3.55 so it had some giddyup.

You do a helluva job reviewing these cars.Dumb question.Is it possible to buy these cars & arrange for shipping without coming to Tennessee?I"m 63,handicapped"but,I can deal with an automatic,love the 76&77 vettes,not a fan of that big back window.Dream car for me.I really don"t need to see or drive the car after seeing your review.And of course there"s alway"s gonna be something wrong that couldn"t be forseen.

The spare tire sits under the gas tank at the rear of vehicle there is a plastic pan that holds it in place; full 17" tire not a donut.

Just don't ever get a flat at night or in the rain or on muddy road because there's no way you're getting that tire changed without being soaked and covered in mud. 😀

The cars are nice looking but build quality isnt its strong point. Not to mention they weren't the best riding vehicle back in '73. And I've had a few .... including an '88 that rode like a log wagon.

There are baffles that can be put in the side pipes to quiet them down but you lose a little power if you do.
