We had so much fun with these cars when they were new. Lots of folks get down on them because the power was so much lower than the muscle cars. But we tweaked on them and surprised people. Most got used and abused. I am sure my Z28 got crushed to make new Fords. But I have awesome memories!

I had a friend when I was younger, his Dad had the Gold Bird Edition, with the T- Tops. He use to take his sons, my friend and I out in his Trans Am every Saturday. We thought we were the coolest!!!! This old car looks pretty good, but definitely needs some TLC!!!!
@mastergunnerysgt12585 күн бұрын
I think this old Trans Am is not bad to see, when Nick talks about vibration going down the road because the tires have air in them and as it gets freezing cold that moisture will freeze in one side of the tire and make it vibrate going down the road. That's why I always put nitrogen in all the tires of cars and trucks that I own, for it always remains consistent in everything that I own today. For that is why Nascar always uses it today. For no flotation of tire pressure today and that's what I like to see.

Not sure if you know this.. but most these have a factory slap shifter. You check it by putting it in drive and If the shifter is spring and moves left to right and feels "sprung" it has it. Basically you put in in L1, accelerate, then push it up at an angle towards the passenger rear view mirror and it will pop into L2, then you can do it one last time to get it into D (Basically third). It keeps you from going into N. Sweet ride, great price too. It should move.

Hey, Nick. I love your videos, especially of the C3 Corvettes. One thing I'd suggest is when you have stereos with the removeable face plates, go ahead and have it with the car during the demo so we can hear and see the system. I know a stereo is minor relative to the whole car but some of us would like to see and hear it if possible. Thanx and keep 'em coming. 🙂

I've said it before, but I'll never understand the Chevy small block swap into a T/A. What's wrong with Pontiac power? Even if it came with the Olds 403, I'd still swap it for a Pontiac 400/Turbo 400 combo

@grand73am8 күн бұрын
Correct. He said this car has a 350. He should have mentioned it's a Pontiac 350, in case some people can't recognize a Pontiac engine and think it's a Chevy 350. The Pontiac 350 wasn't available in 79, so it's not original to the car. In 79, the automatics got the 403 Olds engine (6.6 Litre). You could still get a Pontiac 400 (TA 6.6), but only with a 4 speed, and there were only about 8600 400's left to sell in 79. Only other engine available in the TA in 79 was the Pontiac 301, that could be had with either automatic or 4 speed. 79 was the last year for the Pontiac 400 and Olds 403.

My neighbor had a 350 Chevy in his trans am. Not sure what year it was, but it was stock 80's trans am.
@grand73am7 күн бұрын
@@RobertEast-i4y The 350 Chevy was never used in the 70-81 2nd Generation Trans Am. They did use some 305 Chevys in 80-81, along with Pontiac 301's. The Chevy 350 was finally used in 87-92 3rd generation Trans Ams, so your neighbor's car must have been one of those years. There were no more Pontiac engines after 81, so Pontiac was using Chevy 305's from 1982-up, and starting in 1987, also started using Chevy 350's, during the 82-92 3rd gen years. In 1989 (20th Anniversary for Trans Am), Pontiac even used a Buick Turbo V6, the powerful Grand National engine...one year only I believe.
