Me personally I am unlike everyone else I care not about the features or finishes but the reliability.

To be honest, I appreciate every review that points out how poorly put-together the interior is. You can get a RAV4 at this price point. Toyota had to convince us that this vehicle was a comparable option. It seems to get poorer mileage, has slightly less cargo space and the interior has gaps. If they can't get the interior right, what else did they not care enough to get right? I'm not a bells and whistles person either, but you still have to get the basics right if you want me to buy.

its a very good used buy. I purchased my 3 yr old one used for 35% off retail. Have owned it another 3 years and only put in oil changes, changed windshield wipers and just getting new tires for it no other problems

Just ran across this 9 yr old review. I have a fully loaded 2009 Venza V6 AWD with 220K miles and counting (same color combo as in the review). While I generally agree with the negative points mentioned, I can give a first-hand testament to the reliability of the Venza. It has given us no real issues over the last 14 years and 200K+ miles. The 2GR-FE V6 engine has just about achieved legendary status and the 2009 version I have uses port injection and is somewhat simpler than some of the later versions that were upgraded as engine technology advanced. As long as you religiously change the fluids and pay reasonable attention to performing preventative maintenance, the mechanicals just seem like they will go forever. It is still giving me 22mpg average and 29mpg on the highway while not burning a single bit of oil between changes. I am a 67 yr old, car loving geezer that has owned, and built muscle cars in the past. I know what a modern performance car can do (mostly owned Mercedes AMG models) and the V6 in the Venza gives plenty of HP and torque for everyday driving (without the use of forced induction of some kind - e.g., turbo) to further stress the engine/trans. It is not a performance car and was never designed to be that. It is, however, a strong combination of comfort, adequate performance, fantastic reliability, utility, and IMHO decent looks. HID Xenon headlights were included in the options on my Venza, and I recently "upgraded" the rest of the lighting to LED's. All-in-all, the Venza has more than lived up to my expectations and has performed its duties without a hitch. We have piled the miles on the Venza instead of our Mercedes and it's has acted as a family truck more than a car at times. I think the 1st gen Venza could have appealed to a much broader audience with a different marketing approach, and I believe it was slightly ahead of its time when introduced in 2009. Interesting that the 2009 model I have is virtually identical to the last model made in 2015 - a testament to the Japanese/California design collaboration. In the end, it didn't have quite enough luxury differentiation to compete with the Highlander or the RAV4 and the lower sales numbers caused its demise.

No oil leak from the timing cover yet? These engines are notorious for that.

I have a 2015 XLE and love it. No complaints. Fit and finish is fine. Handles and steers well. Gets 22-23 mpg. My only gripe is that the sun visors lack the usual pull-out extensions so I had to add aftermarket extensions. I run the 20" tires at about 31 PSI to attenuate the harshness of the ride. Frankly, I'd prefer 17" wheels and 60 series tires but same overall diameter. Oh, and I wish the carpet was a bit plusher.

I love how everyone that is reviewing a toyota product can only talk about the plastic and finishes, like any guy or woman gives two shts about finishing lines lol, does it have a good tranny? yes? ok, does it have a good motor? yes? ok , does it look good? yes? ok, is it comfortable? yes? sold.

The nitpicking about finishes and gaps was a bit much and superficial. As a 7 year Venza owner, I can see how many important points were missed by this review. There are other more methodical reviewers who don't just "cowboy" it.

Murano, and most Nissans across the board, haven't been worth a damn since about 2005. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai and Kia make much better vehicles than Nissan (which used to be good, but no longer true).
