I like these low poly AI cars, they're just hilarious but still try to take shape of the car they are representing despite the limitation, it's cool. Also... Look at their driving skill and compare that to us, the player... Who skids and slides all over the place when play the old TD games like 4, 5, 6 for example xD You should do more TD AI cars, even though this video is like 9 years

It was very rich, well made game for the time. Today most games cannot reach such level of dedication. When there is dedication, we fell, when there is automation in the build process we can also few the lack of dedication and effort. Each circuit was made by hand. Like the best cars today.

Do the A.I. cars have the same performance as the player cars? Because I start the game and play, I expect to do good at first, then they just fly right by me so quickly.

Am I the only one who thinks it's fascinating how poorly mapped are the textures for the A.I. cars? I don't mind the hidden cars that either have Viper bodies or XJ220 textures, but those that are supposed to be used look so ridiculous they're awesome, especially those with stripes.

The Player Cars are so much better than AI. But I'm not sure why there's an invisible/ghost car in the game.

This could be possible. The courses' graphics are much more than GT or NFS, and the AI cars' graphics are the only option of sacrificing.

It`s about how the hardware manages the rendering, and how much it can do it. So in example, the player may have it`s eyes on it`s own car, but the player will always not be staring at the opponent cars, so developers might have said to themselves "Hey, I don`t think it is a good idea to make these traffic and opponent cars high poly, let`s make them medium poly to save memory". So when the game was programmed, the developers really looked into making the game as memory as efficient as possible, this also included the smaller details, such as rims.

Wow..those AI cars are UGLY, Also funny how Chris's Beast becomes a Mini in the AI version and is a suped up VW Golf in the player version.

+PolizeiPaul I don't see them as ugly. More like unusual how the PlayStation couldn't handle the AI cars to look the same as the player versions of these cars. Gran Turismo had all of the AI cars looking the same as the player's but not Test Drive 5?

All Access Gaming When you compare them to NFS HighStakes on the PS1 they are. I find it odd they couldn't give them real see through windows and interiors to the vehicles., Then again I guess their game had far lower polygon limits. Also you'll notice the player cars are modeled slightly better and more clearer and not blury like the AI cars..Why was that?

All Access Gaming Exactly..If you look at some other games by EA from the PS1 era you don't find that..You find the AI cars equally detailed as the player cars.
