I understand what you mean and agree, it's an unfair comparison. But the thing is, there are plenty of games that got a version on Ps1 and DC and these games are pretty much the same. TD6 is one of the few that got itself an upgrade for DC instead of just be the same game.

Chaospp Yeah its wierd. I just bought a used DC and a brand new unopened copy of TD6. Looking at this side by side comparison TD6 looks better on the Dreamcast more smooth less pixelated but yeah for a 6th gen system it's not that impressive. The Dreamcast was wierd because it had games that were multiplats from the 5th and 6th generation. The Dreamcast usually shared games with PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Another game I also picked up is F355 challenge Passione Rossa which is an original Sega arcade title that was ported to Sega's own home console the Dreamcast and ironically to the Sony Playstation 2 as well. Wierd because PS2 ultimately put the Dreamcast in an early grave and put Sega out of the home console market for good. I personally like my Dreamcast TD6 is fun on it. F355 Challenge is well challenging and a bit frustrating but I will be getting more games for my Dreamcast in the future probably fighting games like one of the Street Fighters and Virtua Fighter 3tb. I had a PS2 when I was a kid and loved it but never had a Dreamcast I wonder if I wouldve preferred Dreamcast as a kid. I do now. PS2 had some great games don't get me wrong but there's something about Dreamcast that stands apart from the rest of the 6th gen consoles. Who knows though if it weren't for the Dreamcast's demise maybe there never would've been a home console from Microsoft. After all Microsoft had a hand in the Dreamcast as it was compatible with Windows CE.

Yeah it could of been better but there were so many games from that generation that were lazily ported to the Dreamcast. This game was definitely better on the DC. Just being smoother made a huge difference

Most of those early cross platform titles don't really push the Dreamcast hardware. It's not cost effective to do so - you would have to design completely different game assets for the Dreamcast and the PS1/N64. What they did instead was to design the game for one initially and then polish up the assets for Dreamcast or simplify them if they were porting to the older consoles. Less work and less cost that way.

This is one of those games that looks like it was ported from Playstation to Dreamcast, rather than being created from the ground up. The Dreamcast's enhancements in games like these don't necessarily do them any favors, like with textures so smoothed that they just look generic and blurry. Take the road and grass for example; while it's lower res and blockier on the Playstation, it looks more interesting in motion and better conveys a sense of speed. Meanwhile the sharper resolution of the Dreamcast just highlights the simplicity of the car and other models. It doesn't look terrible, but this is just another one of those ports that don't do the Dreamcast any favors when comparing it to systems like the PS2.

Is this the PAL PS1 ver at 50hz going up against the NTSC-U DC ver at 60hz? Otherwise the time descrepency is alarming.

The PS version is has worse frame pacing, that's why. As for 50Hz vs 60Hz, that only makes a difference when the physics are tied to the frame rates. Such an example would be Sonic the Hedgehog on the MegaDrive in PAL regions running slower, or Fallout 4 as a modern example where unlocking the frame rate makes physics-based events (cutscenes, lockpicking, etc.) run at several times the speed. This one here is purely a result of better frame times on Dreamcast given the more powerful CPU.

Apesar de ser mais uma opção para quem curtia corrida de rua, Test Drive 4, 5 e 6 eram jogos meio que feito nas coxas, mesmo quando foram lançados. Eu joguei basteante o TD5 no PSX, e mesmo tendo texturas ruins, eu gostava mais dele do que o TD6, talvez pela física "menos ruim", mas tinhas os carros especiais como o Golf "Chris Beast", a van do "Fear Factory"e o Mini Cooper "Pitbull", que davam pra zoar em alguns dos circuitos, como San Francisco. Acredito que os jogos que citei cairam no gosto dos jogadores mais pelas músicas, do que pela qualidade do jogo. Quanto á comparação, o DC é o do PSX com AA e sem polígonos que sacodem, não tão melhor.

Nem um nem outro, pra mim o Test Drive 5 do PS1 e PC ainda é melhor que esse, mas é óbvio que nesse caso fico com a versão do DC. Acho que uma das coisas que ferraram com o Dreamcast foi o fato dele ter sido lançado muito antes dos outros consoles da geração 128 bits, recebendo vários desses ports meia boca. No fim ele competiu mais com PS1 e N64 do que com PS2, Game cube, etc.

A versão de PS1 me parece superior, mesmo bem mais fraco que o DC, os modelos dos carros ficaram melhores, enquanto no DC o Viper e Skyline ficaram zoados, o reflexo na lataria ficou melhor no PS1, no geral usou toda a capacidade dele, enquanto no DC foi um port da versão do PS1 mal aproveitado, ficou longe de usar todos os recursos do DC, era para o jogo ficar bem melhor, mas foi feita nas coxas, o gráfico melhorou com um bom filtro antiserrilhado, mas como dito alguns carros ficaram feios, o som dos motores ficou estranho no DC, no PS1 é bom, mas o DC tem a vantagem de rodar a 60 FPS.

Um dos melhores jogos de corrida do playstation, mas relança-lo pra o Dreamcast, e praticamente manter o mesmo jogo original, apenas com melhoria no framerate, isso é fazer o consumidor de otário ! WOW!! in most games, Sega Dreamcast has slightly better graphics with Anti-aliasing and smoother fps, but the texture are a bit softer than on ps1, but Playstation 1 graphics are very jagged and sharper, and the lighting is better than the Dreamcast, and you can see the ps1 has a wider color range.
