Great episode bro. I enjoyed the beginning for real. Had me laughing my ass off. Yeah the tripot is definitely binding up seeing the whole strut and knuckle dance like it was. If you're careful you maybe able to shorten the CV and still have enough splines to bite and make it work. Itll probably be a little bit of work chamfering all the splines nicely so it slides together without too much 'persuasion.' Keep up the awesome content dude!

To figure out the clicking noise. Put the jack stands under the rear hubs/suspension arm so that the wheels are at the same height as when it's being driven. Then run it and use the parking brake to put a load on it and slow the rotation enough to work out where the noise is coming from. I also noticed the RH rear wheel keeps popping up like it's being flicked up. This is probably due to the outer CV binding and clicking as it releases. Also check the shiny area on the RH inner joint by the oil filter, may be nothing but given it's location.

You'll need to pull a cv off and cut the shaft down 10mm should be enough only problem doing that you'll cut off the circlip groove but that could be put back in via a 1mm disk and some precision 1milling.

So one day leaving with my 89 Honda Accord, I hit the gas and the drive shaft broke for this very same issue. Watching the bearings roll down the street beside the car. Luckily the shop was close and had enough momentum to park it infront of one of their bay doors. Crazy But I really miss that car. 5 speed P.O.S. But the engine was on point .

Did no one else notice the fact that the entire strut was moving up and down as if it’s not bolted to the shock tower while they were checking for the noise on jack stands and it wasn’t mentioned...
@GARAGEIdiotS4 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s why we think the axle is binding. It was compressing the shock not moving the whole thing out of place
@efbuddies78394 жыл бұрын
@@GARAGEIdiotS I’ll have to have a second look, that for sure looked like the entire shock assembly was moving up and down. Check the bushings on the top hat of the strut. May be bolted but have play where the top hat mounts to the strut.
@efbuddies78394 жыл бұрын
@@GARAGEIdiotS after a second closer look I see what you’re saying now, also you mentioned something about cutting the axle at the splines hoping it will seat further in, if the cup is bottomed out on the half shaft and also on the hub side cutting isn’t going to help. It’s in as far as it’s going to go, just too long of an axle shaft. Good luck and keep at it been watching since the beginning.
