I am a 5th generation family farmer from West-Central Minnesota. The recent interest in food, combined with a large amount of 'misinformation' has driven me to start this channel. I hope to be someone people can relate to and trust when they question how their food is grown and raised. I also hope to become a 'smarter' farmer through my experiences with this channel. I strongly believe we must have an open mind and a willingness to learn about others, or we cannot move forward as one. My goal is to build the connection between farmers and consumers by facilitating a collaborative conversation amongst everyone. I do this by sharing my day-to-day farming experiences, my opinions on certain topics, and occasionally visiting other farms and businesses to help better understand other farming and business practices. There is no limit to where this channel may go, so please join me!!

Agco dealer is back in my neck of the woods after many years being MIA. a lot of guys are going back to Massey. Some of this is due to the mega Deere chain around here having horrible service but Agco stuff is nice. Keep up the awesome videos.

Love challenger tractors. Owned a land clearing business. I specialized in mowing extremely steep hill sides and over grown property. Ran MT465b tractors with schulte XH1500 rotary cutters. The tractors were 4x4 with duals out back. Belly pans and tree bars/ Roll bar's. The tractors were put through hell everyday and were almost flawless. They are very operator friendly. I live in Kentucky around lots of horse farm's. Several of them run Challengers with 10,000 plus hours. With only routine maintenance done to them.

Growing up in a family where both of my parents worked for a Caterpillar Dealership I remember when the first 65 series tractor made its delivery. Sold it to a grading company with a pull behind pan. Honestly, it’s been pretty cool to watch the transformation from the original 65 to the E series and the integration of technology

It's nice to see tractors have evolved over the years. So far, I have only driven a low-power, manual transmission, Fiat tractor from the 60s on my grandparent's farm here in Norway. Farming Simulator is nice, but nowhere close to the real deal. Thanks for having us ride along, Zach.

Well Zach, I had the opportunity to demo a Challenger 575b on my farm and guess what it never left. It has been a very dependable asset to our operation. Dealer support has been exceptional when needed. I think a local agri businessman not far from us just took delivery of the 1000 series you drove. You should ask for one to put side by side with the Deere. Farm on my friend!

MN Millennial Farmer yep! my checkbook not brand loyalty pays the bills. As far as your farm you're very close to Elbow Lake. Its the little shop that could! you have Paul,Curt and Tony for service. you have a good service manager and salesman Bob there. I can see Ziegler having a hard time to get you to switch. When it came time for us to buy a new planter I called Princeton, I called Saint Cloud, and a couple other John Deere dealerships left messages that I am buying a planter this week. I called back when the office lady told me to call back. When you call a dealership three times over a week and leave several messages that you're buying a planter and they don't call back that's not right. In the meantime I had seen an ad for white planters so out of curiosity I called of Ziegler. Got a brand new 2016 planter in the summer of 2016 but since planting season was over it was considered old. 25 grand off retail price, 1.5% finance rate!!! that new planter was similar price as the used ones we were looking at but with low finance it made sense. I will wrestle a guy to the ground if they tried bashing on the 10 series and older deeres. fight to the death! as of late it seems like deere cares about share holders money more then quality.
@turbodiesel4709

Jon Stevens Maple Grove Farms : Seems like Deere is rapidly going to shit, and it's a real shame. Guess that's what happens when you start building poorer quality and continue to market it for a premium price. That, and all the Chinese... need I say more? Folks will always be willing to pay a little more for quality, reliability, and good service. Take any of that away, and then all you have to bargain with is price point only, and the lowest cost almost always wins out. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Deere guy too, but my wallet spends towards what machine will do the job best for me. At the end of the day, quality, reliability, and service/parts support are what matter in any machine. Deere's push for all the large dealership franchise monopolies to arise is also a huge mistake. Our "local" Deere dealer "conglomerate" just doesn't cater to the average farmer like they once did, especially if you are a smaller operation. Big mistake. Deere seems to think that building tractors today (especially little compacts and sub-compacts) is like building automobiles. They couldn't be more wrong. They're cranking out a lot of cheap tinker-toy junk and continue to shove 'em out the door on the under-educated public. Although many folks nowadays are naive, most aren't stupid. There's a reason Kubota has been growing stronger in the USA, which is truly sad to see. Expensive electronic technology is nice and all, but it just makes everything much more expensive, and less reliable. It also makes machinery difficult, if not impossible in some cases, for the average farmer to repair on his own, which is simply idiotic. Deere needs to wake up and go back to building the quality of machines that they built in the 1960's - 1980's, from their basic riding lawn mowers to their articulated monsters, and everything in between. They also need to continue to support their durable and proven older iron, & not continue to pinch off parts availability like they've been quietly doing for the past 20+ years now. Odds are they won't. They'll likely continue on their slow, painful path of market share losses until the company eventually goes belly up. I honestly hope not, but I fear that on their current path, Deere is going the wrong direction. Sometimes, less is more.

Those are badge engineered fendt's and there's nothing wrong with that. The company I work for uses Fendt 716, 718and 724s. All have exactly the same interior and controls, for a new person it can look daunting and can be confusing with the different pages and how you can for example change what button does what spool valve or works the hitch etc. But once you get used to the controls its easy, smooth and hassle free. One of our drivers spent time in the states with development of the new tracked challenger and the company has just received one new in Fendt colours. The driving force of AGCO development is through Fendt now and is here to stay.

I just don't know how my Dad was able to farm 1500 acres in the 1960's without all this new big machinery. All Dad had was two JD 4020 diesels (no cabs), two 5-16 moldboard plows, a 20 ft. IH disk, a harrow to pull behind the disk, a 6 row JD planter, a JD front mount cultivator, a small rotary hoe, and a JD combine with a 4 row cornhead & appropriate grain head, and a couple old 1950's grain trucks with about 300 bushel boxes on them. Dad got 'er done though, and was one of the most successful farmers in the area. Makes me wonder if today's up and coming farmers could have made it in the old days.

Wow, a couple of sweet tractors there! I prefer the tracked 700 to the 1000. Those are made by Fendt in Germany, and while they are massive, it seemed more cosmetic (it's faster, it's comfier, it's bigger and taller) than uitility (sharper turns, better visibility, easier to perform maintenance). I guess it's about preference, in the end. Fun video, very nice to see your son along for the ride, and helping out his old man. BTW, if your John Deere dealer sees this video, I suspect some discounts may be coming your way soon.... Hope you enjoyed the races!
@henningquast8456
@henningquast8456 5 жыл бұрын
David Quintanilla It‘s all about what you are planning to do with the tractors. The 700 on tracks is probably better on the field, causing less damage to the ground etc (tbh I don‘t even think the Fendt 1000 does so much more harm to the ground than the 700, considering it‘s anti-slip control, but I‘m no scientist) but the Fendt 1000 series is the best standard tractor out there. It‘s very good on the field and on the streets, it‘s supposed to be more of an allrounder.

I watched your video of the deere RT demo, an dollar for dollar the challenger just has a few things I like over the deere, the rubber floor.. the cooled seats, two tracks instead of 4. Its extremely quiet. Way more visibility in the back.. idk if I'm spending that kind of coin I'd go with the challenger.

Well as mentioned before you don't like the red rims, so go for the Yellow/gray combo. But pretty sure that you can have the rims black by request, and nothing to argue about with that combo :) And yes the hood is beefy, were else would you hide 517 HP? Best and biggest Standard range or ridgit frame as you like to call it.

On the right side of the 1000 series there’s a big shelf to pull out for tools or refreshing water actually, in Europe it goes under the name of Fendt and the 1050 model for instance has a twelve liter. MAN truck engine of 530 hp if I’m not completely mistaken. Great review and nice that junior could join!

What would you say has been one of the biggest impacts to farmers when it comes to tech? Thanks for the videos.
@MillennialFarmer
@MillennialFarmer 6 жыл бұрын
Michael York that's a good question. I think seed technology is probably the biggest but when it comes to machines and data collection we're all still figuring out how to really use it for a consistent ROI. At this point a lot of it is still for comfort and cool factor. Variable rate seed and fertilizer are definitely big gains. Those are probably the biggest things.

If you had to deal with kibble equipment for service on your Deere equipment you’d be making the switch but I take it Deere in glenwood treats you guys pretty well. However, You should call red horizon and setup a demo for the new versatile quad this fall! It would be interesting to see how those compare to other quads and the challenger.
