Farm Rescue seems like a really great scheme. Helping out farmers in their hour of need to get the job done. I'd love to volunteer however as i live in the UK and have very little farming experience i probably wouldn't be much use. Kudos to those who do get involved though 👏

Hey Zach, how bout a transducer. The oil company's use a transducer to measure the height of the oil in their oil storage tanks. Also works like a fish finder transducer.

Im from Canada and I work in a feed mill we have sensors that run the whole length of the bin and they are pretty accurate

Many good ideas on how to measure the bin, are in the comments. Mine would be simple. - A pressure plate up the bin side that reacts when grains are pushed onto it. - Just a small white plexiglass every few feet, and a light source on the inside. Giving you the ability to manually see from the outside how much grain there is in the bin, by the shadow on the white plexiglass. And by having it white you avoided direct sunlight onto the corn.

To check the level of corn. Can’t you just install a simply safe camera in the top? There are systems to measure distance also.

@1:02 install micro switches at 4 levels and connect to low voltage led in fan controll room. Problem solved.

I would bet there are sensors that can be put in the bins. If there isn't. well then there ya go...an idea for you.

Climbing bins gives you a good view of the farm. At least that is what I found.

Sorry, I think I started something. The idea is a non light camera system that still works, even with a lens fully covered in dust. Light not requires. Sees thru the dust as if not even there. Cameras mounted at the top of the bin. Can be wired to a solar panel on top of the bin to power it. Measuring gauge would be on the opposite inside wall. 5 ft markings, or whatever makes sense. Loved to use ladders to get up and work on the house. But that was a much younger body. Can’t climb one anymore. Age, knees, balance issues, etc. Age is the great equalizer. 😢 Was just kicking around ideas.

I think if you have a strip that runs from top to bottom with pressure sensors, you know the amount of corn in the bins as well.
