Follow along as I learn to use the F-5E Tiger II in DCS: World. This is an in depth look at the aircraft systems, how to operate them, and how to employ them during missions. These are intended for new players who are new to the F-5 and DCS: World and not sure where to start but I go into enough depth that experienced players can enjoy them as well.

This is some elite stuff! I haven't stumbled upon a single video, not to mention a whole series, going so in-depth with the F-5E. Thank you!

For my inner flight sim geek, the walk through of calculating CoG and takeoff speed was awesome. So often I look at graphs and charts like that and my eyes glaze over...but only because I don't understand how to use them. I may actually try this now!

I loved how you went in more depth about how to calculate everything with the real manual. I am actually more interested in planes for the engineering side of things and not really about the flying side so that hit the spot perfectly.

You might have come across PMDG modules for FSX/P3d. They have the B737-800/700/600 NG, and B777-200LR/-300ER simulated withing 10% accuracy from boeing. It's a different kind of flying for sure, but parallel with a hobby of desktop sims.

I'll keep those in mind, but I need something better that my 15 year old $15 joystick before I invest more into simulations.

No problem man. Well I will link below their website, if you want to browse. In terms of PMDG they're commercial tubeliners. You won't need a full on HOTAS for them, as their flightdecks are fully clickable, and you have fully simulated FMS and IRS (a newer more robust piece of equipment compared to the older INS like in the M2000). So a Logitech 3D pro would be enough. Kind of ironic how I've really side tracked away from the DCS F-5, haha! Really torn between the F-5 tiger and M2000 at the moment though.

Nearly forgot. www.pmdgsimulations.com/pages/product/products.html If that won't work, just search PMDG. It's on the level of simulation like the A10C since I own them both ;) Loving them all.

Interesting, 6 years after this video (which emphasizes a 7g limit), pilots were complaining about the F5's delicate wings getting ripped off in hi-g maneuvers....happened to me a lot too, until I found out where the g meter (aka "accelerometer") was, and learned that a gauge that goes to 12g does NOT mean that the plane can do that. I have a copy of the actual dash 1 manual on my computer, I'm going to have to read that.

On the rift cv1 I can't seem to get readable resolution. If you're interested I would definitely appreciate a video on tuning the rift. Thanks for the vids...great stuff.

How do you get the -1 PDFs onto the kneeboard? That looks incredibly helpful for VR and I didn't know you could put your own documents in there! Also just to echo another comment here, I would really love to see you do a video on VR for DCS covering things like setup, tuning, tips and tricks. I really want to enjoy DCS in VR but finding it a struggle.

I got into a spin, died two times trying to recover from it (Using PARE technique). So, don't let the spins happen!

Any tips on trying to get a stable flight on the f5? I've been flying it for a couple weeks now, its always a battle with trim, having to constantly trim every 2 seconds and not having a breather to get a chance to let go of the stick is becoming pita.
@Name-ps9fx
@Name-ps9fx Жыл бұрын
The F5 is well known to be a trim happy "very hands-on" aircraft. Keeping in mind trim will change as fuel is used. Also the trim effect itself is slow to _begin_ but quick to _change_ , so try to just tap the trim button literally once or twice and wait for the effect. If you press 5 or 6 times (or worse, just hold the trim button until the plane begins to climb/dive) it's too late, you're in for a bucking bronco ride! Tap tap....wait 5 seconds....tap tap...when you're close, stop! Don't try for perfection, just make it easier to fly with very little pressure on the stick.

Darn i use DCS World Kneeboard and i cant get the F-5 Manual to show the pages. Do i have to mess with lua?

I got the same problem using the kneeboard builder. I think is uses a slightly wrong directory, i.e. it puts in F-5E whereas it should be F-5E-3. Try to rename the folder and you should see the manual. It is in X:\Users\\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard

Even the main game folder uses F-5E. I dont think the F-5E allows custom kneeboards just yet

Well, it's working that way for me. And if you still doubt that it works at all you can have look at part 3 of this series.
