Add a cover to the side of the leading edge of the device. There will be a shape that does better with the airflow. It is turbulence created by the blunt surface of the side of that thing and the trailing edge of that device. Ask some fusion 360 nerd to make a shape and run it through the Fusion system to hone in the right shape.

That's why it's designed to retract. Big bulky things hanging off the side of an airplane make people nervous.

I fly one that doesn’t retract. It sure would be nice to retract it when not in use. Less drag and less weird looks and questions when you’re on the ramp.

Why would you not have a crew member of this flight not on coms? Huge safety misstep, very unprofessional. No pre-flight safety brief, no emergency procedures made up for contingencies associated with test package. The camera was a minor fail, you were a major fail.

If I put in everything we did the video would be 6 hours long. Hell, we had a 2 hour Zoom call going over the risk rating of every maneuver that was required.
