Testing a relay with a test lamp is very simple, easy and fast as you can see in this video.
You need a 5W or 22W 12V test lamp and three alligator leads to make the connections.
A relay must be checked to verify the state of its coil and that of its contact.
Here I show with a single test to verify both the coil and the contact of the 12V relay.
For this we must put the coil of the relay under test in series with its normally open contact (NO) with the cables and feed it with 12V from the battery.
Then we TEMPORARILY join the NO contact terminals of our relay and we will observe how the relay activates and remains SELF-INSURED as long as the relay is in good condition.
Otherwise, the relay will have damage, either in its coil or in its contact, which indicates that we must change it.
