Saw them at Chicago PowerFest, they killed it for over 3 hours, and this was their first tour since Chuck Billy had throat surgery. It was awesome. More than meets the eye is a good one by them.

Great reaction. I was introduced to Testament back in 1994 with their album Low, It's been a while.

I saw them at the Fillmore in San Francisco when they were touring for that album. The show was recorded for a live album (Live at the Fillmore) Amazing show!

They were “The Legacy” until 1985-6 or so and changed their name before releasing their first album called, oddly enough, “The Legacy” in ‘87…so you’r only missing out on 35 years of awesomeness…

@OldSkuleNerd, I know you kept mentioning 1983, but Testament didn't actually form until 1986. However, you're right, they were known as The Legacy from 1983 - 1986, but never recorded anything except a 4 song Demo in which 3 of the songs appeared later on Testament's debut album "The Legacy" (shocker, right?) in 1987. Now the classic original line-up was Chuck Billy on Vox, Alex Skolnik on guitars (dude with the grey stripe in his hair) and Eric Peterson on guitars. Louis Clemente on drums, and Greg Christian on bass. I split those two groups up because their bass and drummers have changed quite frequently. Eric and Chuck have been with the band since the beginning. Alex was an original member, but left after 1993, but came back in 2005, and has been with them ever since. He was working with Trans-Siberian Orchestra for a while there in the 90s and early 2000s. The story behind the bass players is interesting as well. Greg left in 1996, but came back in 2005 to 2014, to then be replaced by the legendary Steve DiGiorgio who was with them previously in the 90s after Greg left the first time. As for drums, Louis left in 1992, but came back briefly in 2005/06 for a reunion tour with the original line-up, but left again. Paul Bostoph took over after that until 2012, when the legendary Gene Hoglan took over. Gene, seen here, left in 2022 to now be replaced by Dave Lombardo. But between 1993 and 2005, they had a revolving door of guitar players next to Eric. And as for recording, between 1999 and 2008, they didn't record anything new except for an album that they re-recorded ten of their best songs from the first two albums, plus one from the 3rd. I actually prefer the new versions as they're a bit more heavier and Chuck's voice had matured quite a bit in the 10+ years in between them.

Testament is one of those bands that gets better over time. Every year they get better, it doesn't take more listens. Honestly one of the best bands of all time, better than metallica for sure.

Dang...first time for Testament. Check out Low, Demonic, Native Blood, and so many of their older songs. Also, check out Metal Allegiance, a super group featuring Dave Ellefson, formerly of Megadeth, Alex Skolnick, of Testament, and Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theater. Plus, singer of the week, basically, as most of their vocals are done by a special guest artist. They did a great cover of Dio's "We Rock". It's fun to watch that video and see if you can name everyone in the video.

Damn you´ve missed alot. I fell love for the begining. It´s good that as a Finnish my mom didn´t understanted English at all. I think that she wouln´t like me to sing "Alone in the dark where the demons are torturing me" like i did 1988 (first album Legacy released 1987) 😂. I was eight years old and my mom was religious. She sure didn´t like that me and my five years older brother listened metal.

5:34 I remember back in 1984 when VH was singing about Panama, Sammy Hagar put out VOA album with lyrics like "You in the middle east, you be on your toes. We're bound to strike, everybody knows. Just tell your friends, the USSR. We're gonna, we're gonna crash that party, 'cause they've gone too far, yeah." Gary Moore had his Nuclear Attack. One band just full-sent it and named themselves Nuclear Assault. I guess the next generation's thrash will adopt human-induced global climate change-themed songs and names? lol

They already did that in the 80's. It was environmental and anti-war.

It is a Testament to this band that they are still going, and sounding great. In my opinion they were unfairly classed as being not as good as "The Big Four". I am glad they are still getting the recognition today that they deserve.

Still have their classic sound. Heard of them back in '87 in the 8th grade, which was in the high school. Listened to metal and punk before that, but, after that year things got heavier. Being 13 listening to hardcore, death metal, and the like with 17/18 year old ssniors.

At least these guys were better to hear in the 80's than all the Glam hair bands that tried to look tough while they were in full make up, drag clothes and hair sprayed hair that could catch flies.

I just gotta ask you - who recommended this as the first Testament song you ever listened to? They have so many songs that are way better. I mean, this isn't a bad song by any means, but this is not one of the songs that people at their concerts are going to be begging them to play night after night, and Testament have A LOT of songs that fit that description.
