T-Mobile swapped out my trashcan for this new unit. I have to say this works much better. It is way more consistent and faster as well as receive a stronger signal from the same tower as the trashcan did.

Interesting, since I am seeing a true aggregation of connection speeds. Still its far from my desired speed goal. For now it's pretty stable, fail-over is a nice plus and 4k streaming and faster downloads in general prove to me that combining Tmobile hm internet with zippy was worth the added costs.

Thank you for this video! Saved me the hassle of calling customer service and pleading for a modem upgrade! I started with T-mobile home a little over a year ago with the little white cube getting an average of 25 Mbps. It took weeks and at least 8 calls to convince them to upgrade me to the trash can. Now slowly the speed has come up to an average of 260 - 300 Mbps with the network upgrades, those speeds are also thanks to you. Your videos demonstrating the antenna sensitivity of the Nokia made a huge difference, a slight turn or a 1/4" of movement can bring my speeds down almost 50 Mbps. Besides what would I do with my trash can fan if I upgrade? Thanks again!

Also they haven't even fully implemented 5G on the 5G towers is what they told me last week. I told them its ridiculous to sell a product thats not even finished. Thats like selling a Xbox series X with just the mother board and the shell and being like here enjoy. But obviously microsoft knows better not T-mobile lol. Makes sense though because my phone is all switching to 4G LTE in so many places in my city. Then they supposedly bought out sprint which doesn't make sense when Blackrock, Vanguard, and State Street Corp owns them all anyways they are literally the largest shareholder's for most companies in the world meaning they have the voting power. You can look it up yourselves everything we eat drink and consume media wise as well as our devices are owned by them. Its sad no one talks about it. They own T-mobile, Verizon At&t and they owned Sprint, they own Microsoft, Google and Apple, they own Fox and CNN as well as all local news stations. They own like all food companies. Its scary they are in control of our who lives and we work for them in many ways keeping them rich.

Set up service with the can yesterday and I was surprised I was getting over 500 down and around 120 up consistently specially living in a congested city. If those speeds are constant, I couldn't recommend this enough. For $50/month, and not having to deal with a set up appointment and equipment rental fees, this has already made it a winner.

I am sticking with Nokia. It’s WiFi range 200 feet. It’s better than the router I had before. I don’t need a mesh system. It was very easy to add a fan. I biggest issue is that the service is de-prioritize and it slows down when the traffic is heavy at the tower. I go from 60 down to 5 to 10. 8 pm is the worst time for me. T-Mobil said there still working on upgrades. These are growing pains. Thanks for showing us the new trash can. Your videos have been very helpful.

My experience is very similar to Sal's. Really great wifi range, got rid of extenders. Fan helped. Steady improvements in speeds since I signed up last Nov. Prime time traffic here in the Phoenix area cuts speed from average 150 down to about 30 or 40. Still fast enough for my use. Running around thirty 2.4 band devices (cameras, smart switches, Alexa, etc.). 2.4 is strong and rock steady. Separation of 2.4 and 5 mHz bands was essential!

@@NaterTater You're most welcome and it's not boring. I was lied to at the store and sold an older device [Nokia]. The guy lied to my face and said I'm getting a 2.0 upgrade [Nokia]; meanwhile they sold my neighbor a truthfully newer device days earlier that I was thinking he was giving me as well. I later called T-Mobile that confirmed that the older device[he told me] is actually newer[seems the representatives I've spoken with did not know rather than lie]. I was on three way with the company. In the end I didn't really get truthful results even though she tried. I found your video and I learned in details; I can't even learn many recipes these days. Because, not "boring" or whatever that "cool" thing is expects me to view a series of quick style paced, videos. They must be a minute or so by long. Goodness, imagine Movies? Good movies? I have the Nokia device here in Rittman, Ohio. I get just about 700mbps download and 40ish upload. Surprising since I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Signals are usually around -90 to 95dBm for the 5G and -98 to 105dBm on the LTE. It replaced my Spectrum internet and I have been very impressed with it's stability. I have like 17 devices connected to it and it runs fantastic. I got lucky enough to get a tower close that uses the n41 mid band 5G.

Very good an informative video. I have had the 4GLTE gateway for close to two year and the performance has been flawless. I tried the Nokia twice about six months ago. The first one was DOA and the second one the speed was terrible (10mb or less). The 4GLTE has always been between 100-120. I have been monitoring the TMO 5G signal in my area for the past two months and they finally have it stable. I decided to try the Arcadian router. It arrived this afternoon. It came up with no problems and the performance so far has been great. I am getting 5 bars in the exact same spot where I was getting 3-4 on the 4GLTE. I hope this continues. I will continue to test for the next few days before I return the 4GLTE router.

I am within 4 towers (2 being less than a mile from me), so I should have amazing speeds if only my devices can connect to it. For now, only getting 70-90 download and 13-15 uploads. Ugh!!!

I just got the newer arc one and today was my first use with T-Mobile internet and I’m getting peak speeds of 370 down and 45 up. I figured out that I actually need to face the block in different positions to get the best signal and best speed. When I faced it to one side of the house there was no speed and it shut down. When I faced it to another side I got 60 down, and then I tried another and got 30 down. I faced it to the final side and ended up with 370 so I’m assuming it is sensitive to where the tower is.

Thanks for the video! I tried calling them, to see if they had a port forwarding feature within the app. They told me that the feature is not available, but more shockingly; that they couldn't do it on their end, either. I'm getting packet loss, with my xbox and I have to wait until their engineers add this feature. But, in watching your video, it seems as though I will always have 47ms ping, while I'm gaming, if we're waiting on them to add this feature lol

I've been testing mine for a few months now, and I've noticed the speeds (Nokia Router) have slightly improved with firmware updates. I have also segmented out the 2.4 and 5 GHZ bands so that each has its own unique SSID because with the default unified setup, I was getting worse throughput and worse speeds. I consistently getting about 130 solid on the download and 20 on the upload. I will also state that when conducting speed tests, there are so many variations, for example, distance from the router, whether or not you're using ethernet, or the modem in the device in which you are conducting the test. I have tested with my iPhone and my Note 10+ and gotten differing speeds, both above 130 on the download, but the iPhone 13 is pulling faster speeds, even though the Note 10 is showing Wi-Fi (6) on the icon. So, there are so many factors involved. Alos when doing a speed test, I do it in the worst room because usually that is where the complaints will arise LOL! Either way, for 50 bucks it's worth it! I'm hoping there is some kind of mesh system coming for this router in the future, because that would enhance the experience tenfold!

Hey Nate - great video, thanks for taking the time and effort to do it. I can't help but ask though, what if you used two 4x4 antennas? I know nothing about the costs of these antennas, so I don't know how prohibitive it might be to get two 4x4's, but I can't help but wonder about it. I'm pretty sure I have a tower less than a 1/4 mile from me (need to confirm that), and I really think that having outside antennas could make a big difference. Using just my iPhone 13, with a 5GUW connection, I've seen close to gigabit speeds in some locations. I have to wonder if I could get above the 250-ish megabit speeds I'm currently seeing with no external antennas.

Hi Nate. I've been a T-Mobile Home Internet Subscriber for a year now. It's been really great and far more dependable than my old Xfinity connection. Yes it may drop signal at times, but a quick reboot has never failed me. I recently put mine on a fan and smart plug that reboots it every night at 3 AM while we are all sleeping. I haven't experienced a drop since I started the nightly reboots. I also just scored a new Arcadyan KVD21 for the home. I can't wait to hook it up. My question for you is now that you have been able to kick the tires on both models, which has the greater/more stable Upload Speeds? I also am benefiting from the recent tower Upgrades. My Downloads have increased from 150 MBPS to 250 to 400 MBPS. I clocked the Nokia at 572 Down early in the morning the other day. My problem however is my Upload Speeds. They are only 14 MBPS to 25 MBPS. It's strange because my cellphone easily gets 30 to 40 MBPS Up. My work office is also the farthest from my Gateway. I don't get a ton of issues, but my video on conferences works much better in the AM than late PM. I'm sure most of that is related to afternoon traffic of people hitting the towers in my area. So I'm hoping to pick up greater Upload speeds, and wonder if you have experienced any improvements in that regard. I know I threw a lot at you, but I would love your feedback on any of what I have shared.
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Lee, I assume you are on n41 for secondary signal. The downside to n41 is it uses TDD which segments the signal in time chunks for download and upload and they obviously favor download over upload. This means its hard to get really fast upload. That said 15mbps is plenty for video conferencing, I'd bet its either the multi user QoS (bandwidth "sharing") support or the ping/latency that is causing your issues. Are you connecting directly to the gateway? Try an external router if so. Both gateways have similar upload.
@leemeadows5624
@leemeadows5624 2 жыл бұрын
@@NaterTater Thanks Mater. I've been thinking about running a hard cable from my Gateway to my work office. There's definitely a lot of sharing of the upload going on. My wife works from the home also and the kids are often at home with virtual school due to COVID. I was using a Deco P9 with backhaul, but for some reason it kicked the can on me as soon as the new speeds came in. I had them running in router mode so I could take advantage of additional features like device being able to prioritize devices. I think that goes away when I put them in AP Mode. I'll have to do some testing. I may see if the home still functions well with the gateway in my office upstairs. That would be great, and allow me to easily connect to it for work. Thanks for the input.

The Nokia Gateway works way better than the Arcadyan in my area I was constantly experiencing major issues with Arcadyan and wasn't experiencing half the issues when I had the Nokia so basically T-Mobile is sending me the Nokia again and I'm sending the Arcadyan back. Thing about it is they were claiming that the Arcadyan was faster than the Nokia that's not true because when I had the nokia the speed test was higher than the Arcadyan. With the Arcadyan I experience a lot of buffering and blurry Imaging on my TV do to poor connectivity that the Arcadyan puts out and a lot of signal loss with the Nokia I didn't experience blurry Imaging at all only buffering every once in awhile but it wasn't constantly like with the Arcadyan

Be sure that you have taken a paper clip and inserted it into the "reset" hole in the back and reset your device. I've had the Nokia 5G for about 5 months and a recent power surge from a thunderstorm messed it up (reduced internet speed from about 40/4 to 5/.12). Three different T-Mobile techs failed to urge me to try that, and I just happened to spot that reset hole on my own and then went for it. It worked! But not before they sent me the Arcadyan on 5/25/22; now I have to decide whether to swap (even if that goes smooth, I'll have to redo all of my Alexa pods and smart plugs to talk to the new device).
