Im lookin at this and nitro 5 im usually gaming/ KZbin. I need portability good life span and be able to play WoW smoothly. Only £50 difference but this says "MIL-STD 810G military standard for reliability and durability" sounds good

You can not upgrade to 16GB of ram. It has a 8GB sodimm slot and it is soldered.

Such a helpful review thank you! I'm choosing between this and the acer swift 3 amd ryzen 5. Do you have tips on which might be better? Both have 8g RAM I heard for the zenbook the integrated vega graphics takes 2gb so the working RAM is more like 6gb, is that noticeable?

Mai I ask whereabouts exactly are the location of the speakers? And what is maximum brightness in nits of the screen? Is the screen anti glare?

Top firing on both sides of the keyboard unlike most Asus laptops with bottom-side firing speakers. Screen is anti-glare. Brightness is probably 300 nits (not sure about this).

It has a quad speaker setup, two on the top and two on the bottom. Max brightness is 300 nits and yes the screen is anti glare.

It would be great if you could test linux on it and see if it works fine. AMD's linux drivers are notorious for being bad.

Interesting, i would test this on my zenbook but i dont intend to use Linux so i dont wanna bother making a partition and full install. Would a bootable usb suffice to test it? And what distro? I prefer debian myself

Yeah just testing using a bootable linux drive should be enough to check if it works fine. Any distro (like ubuntu/fedora) would work too. The main concern is graphics related issues on Linux.

@@pradeepraghuraman4430 AMD Radeons use built in mesa drivers on linux and they perform flawlessly. No need to use catalyst/adrenalin drivers anymore. Which makes kernel updates a breeze.

@@Frederique-c8q i just got mine. It can run overwatch on low settings 60 fps which is kinda good considering its size. I already have a bigass rtx2080ti rig at home, a bigass Asus ROG laptop with a gtx 880m so this will be my student/travel pc

This laptop has a really bad sound chip. When you plug headphones to listen to music using cable headphones, you get toy-like sound quality. Absolutely sub-par sound through the headphones. Much cheaper laptops have better sound. I contacted ASUS and they have no solution.

Hello everyone, I bought Asus UM431da (ryzen 7 3700u version), Im happy with purchase but I have 3 possible 'problems' with my laptop and I need opinion of the owners of this computer. 1- Battery life seems to short, with browsing usage I only can get about 3/3:30h. 2- While im on browsing the computer reach temps about 45/50ºC. 3- I already have parasite sounds (on the plastics?) when I open and close laptop, or take no another place every time I listen the sounds : / its normal owners?

Check for COIL WHINE before you buy. ASUS is notorious for it. Also, Asus's "engineers" do not use grounding in their chargers therefore there is HUGE interference when you plug in external speakers. Also coil whine will be more prevalent while on charger. If you work in complete silence the coil whine is going to drive you crazy. ASUS doesn't think that coil whine is a fault but a feature of the laptop! All their Zenbook and Vivobook series are notorious for overheating. Check for these thing before you decide to keep this LEMON.
