I’ve been running a fidlock for a little while now. Only downside for me is the bottles aren’t insulated, and in SoFL, that means I’m drinking warm water almost as soon as I’m on the trail. I just checked their website hoping to see an insulated bottle option but I didn’t see any.
@RideWithGravity3 жыл бұрын
That would be a cool option. I live in the desert and definitely feel you. It's 108° as I type this. You guys have that heat, plus the humidity. Holy smokes man. There's no way to describe what riding in that humidity is like. And an ice cold drink tastes so much better than warm water.

well done. well explained.👌 definitely a great product. So far I haven't needed one yet, cus I use a bladder, but if I would do a super long multiday ride, I guess this is perfect for extra water. But I sure would buy it, if I needed it, there is no better choice I think for bottle on bike solutions.

Just stumbled across your channel and have subscribed great stuff 👍. Just ordered one of these to strap around underside of my downtube on my YT Capra, hoping it stays on as I ride some pretty rough rocky/rocky trails

I bought the 650ml bottle and mount in Germany last year. I don’t know if they’ve improved the design, but on the bottle I have, the plastic is so hard I can’t squeeze it more than a half gulp, so I went back to traditional cages and bottles. The clip is mounted to the bottle with a polymer band, I guess that’s why they designed it not to deform. Are the newer bottles more squeezable? That would make them more usable.
@RideWithGravity4 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question. I've noticed that about my bottles but I figured it had something to do with keeping the rigidity of the bottle for mounting purposes and I usually take the lid off during stops and drink it like it's a cup. As for the new designs I don't know if they've changed anything or not.

Thanks for the vid man, convinced me to give one a go! I have a seriously tight spot on the inside of my frame and the 450ml literally fits with 1mm room to spare! Question is, is there any reason I shouldn’t put the bottle in the fridge? Seen on the paperwork the freezer is a no go!
@RideWithGravity4 жыл бұрын
The fridge should be fine. I store mine in the fridge as well and haven't had any issues.

What is the size compatible for 2022 giant reign 29 SX small size frame? Thank you and ride safe bro.
@RideWithGravity2 жыл бұрын
With it being a small frame and a coil shock inside the mainframe you're in the same boat as me and a 12oz will fit nicely. 👊🏻

Hi - thx for the video. Good description of the product. Just one question - do I understand well that this is more for righthand users? How difficult is to operate with this by left hand? For me more common thing. Thx
@RideWithGravity5 жыл бұрын
Great question. I'm a lefty, too so I had a bit of learning but it didn't take long. I did have to learn to grab the bottle with my right hand but since I'm left handed anyway, I kind of prefer having my left hand on the grip while my right hand learned to grab the bottle. It doesn't take long. 🤘🍻
@Shykovart4 жыл бұрын
Guys, it's easy to switch for the left hand. You can place a magnetic base upside down on the frame and you can change the mounting on the bottle, there is an option for that.
@mauro21savaan3 жыл бұрын
Hi is it possible to use it in combination with a pump mount connected directly next to the bottle and use the same mounting bolts as the bottle cage?
@RideWithGravity3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I'd have to see the pump mount that you're taking about.

Let's talk about what a pain in the ass it is to install a regular bottle cage...in a tight space, then working the Allen wrench around the cage itself 🤦♂️ I'm sold on the fidlock just for that! BUT.... I have lost quite a few bottles in crashes.....I should stop doing that 🤔🤦♂️
@RideWithGravity5 жыл бұрын
Ha! Yep, cages are a struggle. I'm still working on not losing half my stuff when I crash!
@mtbboy19934 жыл бұрын
the key to doing this is using a small ratchet, same with cockpit, like stem, cockpit controls, like brakes, shifters, remotes.
@TheCrashingDad4 жыл бұрын
@@mtbboy1993 yeah...I need to learn to not be so heavy handed on small bolts 😂
@mtbboy19934 жыл бұрын
@@TheCrashingDad make sure to grind down old worn hex keys, when you can't buy new, or you will round off bolts. But hex keys are not always best choice, I like to use a ratchet wrench i have a small one for cockpit and other areas where that is suitable, like Archer d1xtrail, to open the cover and take batteries out.

Why does nobody mention the fact that so many of these bike water bottles have nothing to protect the mouth piece from getting a ton of dirt on it while riding?!! It blows my mind that this isn’t talked about and is such a MASSIVE overlooked oversight. I don’t want to clean the dirt off of the mouth piece every time I need to take a sip! There should ALWAYS be a cap there!! My gym water bottle has a cap on it, so why not the bike bottle?? Not everyone wants to drink while they ride. Some of us stop fully and then drink, but I like the taste of water much more than mud/dirt!!! SMH.
@samplatt65664 жыл бұрын
It is because it is harder to take a sip whilst on the bike if there is a cap on it. It's difficult to take a cap off with one hand
@RideWithGravity4 жыл бұрын
And on any given ride I probably inhale/swallow at least a couple tablespoons of dirt, dust and bugs anyway. 😅
