This guy is a freakin" genius, I have accepted the fact that my skill set will never be this complete, but to incorporate some of these techniques into my own scratch builds is the goal, lofty as it is, I hardly ever build out of the box on most of my builds either, I just love to modify kits and add detail.

BP's work is FANTASTIC!! I love the color of the cargo ship. Both ships are reminiscent of somthing you would see in a Gerry Anderson show. These ships have elements of design that would make Derek Meddings and Martin Bower proud. AGAIN FANTASTIC JOB!!!

What an amazingly skilled and talented model maker. Writing in hard SF I have a long obsession with building more realistic looking larger spacecraft. So far no one really gets close but this is about as close as it gets.

Maquettes where the creator has not only envisioned the exterior, but also the interior AND made the two based on an idea, are the best. Not bashing the other ones, but it takes a lot to cook something that's constrained by rules, where creativity needs to flow along rigid elements.

What an amazing scratch build! I actually like his approach of not weathering spaceships very much. That makes sense considering there isn't any weather in space - there's not exactly a lot of stuff out there which could "dirty up" a spaceship. It may be different for a ship which could theoretically land and take off from dusty planets, but this beauty obviously lives entirely in space.
@garble77 ай бұрын
I do think an electric charge on the ship could attract dust. Heck even gravity could attract the dust. Old enough ships might gather quite a bit.

Two terrific models! That tail-sitter VTOL is that sort of thing I've been saying for ages would have been a more logical configuration for the Moon base interceptors in UFO (the Gerry Anderson series).
@DaveCessford-tf2ws7 ай бұрын
Lovely work and nice to see model spacecraft that don't look as if they have been down a coal mine! Craft used in space just don't get very dirty - they are in a near vacuum. Too many model spacecraft are weathered to death without any thought as to were all the dirt is coming from.

BP is amazeballs! I tasked him with building a ship that was going to be used by the main villain in a no-budget TV series I produce (see his T-shirt for a clue) and unfortunately due to some issues I had to change those plans, so that model, which is GORGEOUS, is now slated to take a more front/center approach in the spin-off. I didn't want to waste his work on a one-off episode.

Scratch building has been the standard way to make SF models. The new way seems to be to CAD the designs first in a computer then if a physical model is desired, use a 3D printer to make the parts and assemble them.

I really should start buying random kits, to eventually make a good selection out of them to build my own ship(s). I like the idea of a long range fighter that BP showed, because that has always been kind of a bummer on the TIE Fighter, that it is always meant to be so short range. And i like the moving seat, kinda reminded me a bit of the redundant mechanics in the Thunderbirds sequences, just for the sake of it looking more interesting. And of course, i'd love to have my own flagship, complete with the fighter bay and possibly some tiny short range fighters like the ME163 Komet to protect it. I can do this all in Photoshop, but nothing beats having the actual physical objects in your hands.

👍 This ship is more realistic than a lot of the sci-fi movie offerings. The reason being, it is round. By necessity, anything designed for habitation in space will have to be cylindrical or spherical, or a combination of both. Because it will have to be a pressure vessel to contain air.

Nice work! Cool futuristic industrial design, wish they would be more realism and physical based. Like radiators to desepate heat instead of solar panels. Also due to location some will be covered by hull and have limited angle, has low efficiency on long distance, so more like an additional source of energy.
